A fantastic bike the FJ1200 (I've had two) and just about to buy a third after 8 year absence from bikes. Easily, still up to the job in 2021. This is the best looking version in my opinion and your one looks fantastic. Awesome

An unbelievable amount of work Michael, but it shows. And I feel brave if I change the oil and filter. Good luck with the MOT I’m sure she’ll sail through.

What a beautiful bike! A labour of love ❤️, clearly. Keep these videos coming. One on the Westfield perhaps?
@MichaelsFJRestorationProject3 жыл бұрын
Thank you Philip. Yes perhaps a Westfield video should feature next. And I should get Julia involved too as she has helped so much in the garage with various projects. M

Beautiful resto job Michael, very impressive. I am about to embark on restoring mine this winter, the same model and colour yours, they are amazing bikes. I like the paint job too, first class! Well done 👍
@MichaelsFJRestorationProject3 жыл бұрын
Thanks Michael. Good luck with the resto.I’m sure you’ll manage to do it in much less time than I did! It’s very satisfying to take something old and a bit tired and make it beautiful again. Enjoy!

@@MichaelsFJRestorationProject thanks, I look forward to riding it again. I'm not looking forward to stripping and rebuilding the carbs though, that can get expensive too. How were the carbs on yours?
@MichaelsFJRestorationProject3 жыл бұрын
@@michaelmclarney1994 carbs were fun to do. If the bike has been sitting not run for a while and especially if it’s been left with the float bowls not drained then I reckon it’s worth fully stripping them to clean them well. I did a video talking through some tips based on my experience. Suggest you buy the carb seals and bolts kit from RPM Racing in USA if you’re rebuilding. Brilliant and not expensive. Good luck. Get in touch if you run into any problems and I can help. Cheers. Michael

Looks beautiful Michael, great work. would have been nice to see a before resto and after image. What kind of mileage does it have and it would have been nice to hear the exhaust note. Thanks and gives me more incentive to get my 89 going. Is that a Caterham 7 I see in the garage?
@MichaelsFJRestorationProject2 жыл бұрын
Thanks David. Yes some before and after shots would be good to add. Nice idea. The car in background - close with Caterham guess - it’s a Westfield MegaBird with Honda Blackbird 1100 motorcycle engine. Amazing thing for very little money. Fab on dry days! Michael

Nice, im restoring the same FJ where are the decals from. Thanks

Nice bike, looks like you spent a pretty penny on it. I have a 1993, been sitting for awhile, stupid 10% ethanol gasoline in CA ruined the carbs. Great bike, I need a better exhaust. Stock too quiet.

Beauty, what make is the after market seat?
@Profabdesigns Жыл бұрын
Hi, Forgiver me pls, but with your accent I was unable to hear what seat you were able to find for this beauty? I just bought a ‘93 ABS WITH 3900 ORIGINAL miles here in the USA. Bike is mint. Owner suddenly passed, and I am blessed to now own her. Thanks in advance if you get this?
@MichaelsFJRestorationProject Жыл бұрын
Thanks. Your bike sounds great too. The seat is a Bagster/Baglux - French company who've been around and making bike seats for decades. I picked it up on eBay secondhand but hardly used so looks brand new. Very comfy and I think the design suits the lines of the bike well. Other big aftermarket seat was the Corbin one I think.enjoy riding your FJ.

Awesome have a 91 FJ1200 Can barely hear your description what kind of mono shock Brother?
@MichaelsFJRestorationProject3 жыл бұрын
Sorry for poor audio David. It was just a spur of the moment thing to decide to shoot and post a quick video as I had the bike outside to check over ready for the MOT test. Just used my iPhone. Rear shock is Ohlins with remote hydraulic preload adjuster. Nice quality bit of kit. M

What Paint did you use for engine ?
@michaelfleming85173 жыл бұрын
Hi Piotr. Sorry actually - I don’t know what was used as I got the engine painted by an amazing chap called Harry Coghill. Trades under the name Briteworx. You can find him on the web and on KZbin. I saw an article about his work in a bike mag and got in touch to chat to him. Great attention to detail. He did a lovely job. M
