I love catching sunsets and sunrises in this tent, it's an awesome feeling just laying in your sleeping bag and just gaze at the stars or waking up together with the sun in the morning. If your'e into that sort of thing this tent is for you. The Abisko view 2 is the perfect summer tent with maximum ventilation and bug protection all in one neat package!
Product description
Self-supporting three-season tent with excellent ventilation, optimised for use during the warmer months of the year. The vestibules can be entirely rolled up on both sides of the tent so you can enjoy the view from the inner tent while keeping insects at bay. The flysheet is raised on the short ends and this together with the highly positioned vents and inner tent entirely in mesh fabric makes the tent incredibly well ventilated and perfect for tropical adventures. In unstable but warm weather the doors can be fastened in half-open position, leaving the inner tent protected from the rain. The inner tent and the flysheet are connected and supported by two tent poles that cross each other twice. This makes the inner tent self supporting, while the vestibules are supported using guylines and tent pegs. Six guylines in Dyneema anchor the tent to the ground and give it good stability. Two openings and two vestibules make it easy to organise your side of the tent, and give you the possibility of using the entrance on the lee side during windy weather. Generous height provides comfortable tent life. Inside the inner tent is a clothesline and six storage pockets for bottles, flashlights, clothes etc. Attachment points for Gear Loft (an accessory) in the inner tent. The flysheet is made from Fjällräven’s new high-performance TripleRip nylon and an innovative construction that combines two different fabric weights - 20 denier in the top part and 40 denier at the bottom where abrasion is most intensive - giving excellent strength despite the tent’s low weight. Just like all of Fjällräven’s tents, Abisko View 2 is made entirely without PVC plastic and toxic flame retardants, and its impregnation is fluorocarbon free.

Clever way to crossing the tent poles in 2 points instead of 1 lika a cross, cool design. It gives more stability in windy days. Also your montage level is so high!

This is an excellent tent. Although it is a 3 season tent I have been out in some pretty terrible weather in it without suffering. In very wet conditions the footprint is essential. The inner only pitch kit also allows you to pitch without the flysheet as just a bug net or under a tarp. All in all the best thought out tent I have ever used.

@@joekelly9369 Yes a warmer weather tent because it’s got a full mesh inner however it deals with bad UK weather. extremely well and I have slept out all year in some challenging weather and never had a problem. A good bag and mat and I have been down to -10 and out in amber storm warnings no problem.

@@joekelly9369 I have owned Vangos. They are very good value for money. But this is a far superior tent. Every single component is better quality. But you buy what you can afford don’t you. The key is getting outside and enjoying yourself any buying kit that works for you, within your budget.

Clean up on the tent is the best. No sweeping. I need a new 2 person. Mine is a few years old and needs a little touch up. I noticed no rain fly per say? The gear loft feature on mine is great. I put all kinds of stuff up top. Great place to camp and sleep. Enjoy.

In most Scandinavian tents the rain fly is integrated with the inner tent, it shows in the beginning of the review :)

Don't know how I missed this! Just got 2 tents, a Marmot and Poler, and waiting on a North Face one (I have issues). Very interesting that this tent still uses sleeves/tunnels for the poles and not clips. I don't think I've seen that in years. I'm confused by guy lines. Do they just pull the extra parts tight?
@TedWeirum
@TedWeirum 3 жыл бұрын
The are used to stabilize the tent too like normal :)
@markfletcher9791

there was a big trend in industry to clips… it seems easier (less threading through a long sleeve) and saves on material (lighter). But then if you spend time looking at expedition/four season tents such as Hilleberg or Fjellraven… you will notice long sleeves for poles are a lot more common. I think this is by design to spread the load more evenly across the tent surface area for better resilience and support to high wind or snow loads for four season conditions. Many of those longer sleeves allow the use of double poles as well for use in insane wind conditions… including this tent. There is an Abisko pole kit available to double the pole support within those long sleeves. God knows who would actually do that… but it’s a sign of a tent that’s built for durability
@PaulHo
@PaulHo 3 жыл бұрын
@@markfletcher9791 nice input, I think that's also a clear distinction between mostly mesh tents that use a rain fly and traditional polyester construction tents. Maybe that's the difference between 3-season and all-year tents? I've been playing around with both of mine (The North Face has been delayed, again) and they're fun to sit in as glorified mosquito nets, then throw in the rain fly to block the sun. It doesn't ever rain in Southern California. ☠️

@@PaulHo I ended up going for the View. It’s a surprisingly rare animal that seems to have decent robustness of a four season-ish exterior, but the mesh interior goodness of a friendly warm weather summer tent. most four season tents have far less mesh in the interior, and opt for solid panels to retain some heat (making them too warm for summer use)… while summer tents have the desirable mesh and ventilation capability but have questionable external durability in strong wind/storms. I don’t think the View is the best summer tent (there are lighter options) and it isn’t the best four season tent (others are far more bombshelter/heavier)… but this strikes a good ratio for me for the Nordic and Scotland summers I intend to use it in

I can attest to the design of this tent. I've been using a very similar one since 2011 and has been in multiple conditions in Australia, Solomon Islands, and Canada. The full bug mesh is the best, worth buying just for that, and then of course the ventilation. One thing that is missing on mine (Mozzie Dome, made by OZTrail Australia), is the guide lines (handy for that type of material which tends to sag when the tempature/climate, changes) and extra vestibule space for my backpack. Ted, have you had a chance to put that tunnel tent you had through any tests? in terms of durability and functionality? Thanks for all the reviews!
@TedWeirum
@TedWeirum 4 жыл бұрын
Hey Zack! Thanks for your input! If you’re referring to the Keb endurance 3 I hadn’t gotten a chance to use it more yet, I’d like to put it through it’s paces when the conditions get a bit more “test worthy” if you know what I mean, but it’s in the plans! :) a quick summary so far is that it’s a good and stable tent, plenty of living space in the vestibule, I’d if I where two people I’d go for a 3 person tent for the extra room. Hope that’s helps for now!
