20.9 includes a lot of great stuff but my favorite is one that very few people have noticed, a bunch of bugfixes. FL studio recordings are now sample accurate. No more nudging audio regardless of yoir buffer size and plugs! Always bang on grid. Input latency compensation (which was seriously broken before) is also fixed. A hidden gem 🙂

@@4am446 Hi, there are many ways to record in FL Studio. You can record midi and audio, and when it comes to audio you can record into both Edison or directly into the Playlist, which is probably the easier option. I have a video on how to do that here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/mInPhZ1ulrGdp8U

Another great thing about free updates is that most of Image Line's updates are awesome, with tons of new stuff. This DAW has come a long way since I first started using the cracked version of it back in like 2012. I bought the full version many years ago and have been pleased with it ever since. The new updates keep a steady stream of quality improvements. It is an industry leading DAW in my eyes. It might not do everything the best, but it is so incredibly versatile. I've produced rock, dubstep, rap, youtube videos, all sorts of stuff and it just keeps getting easier and easier to do with better tools and QOL.
@FireWalkMusic3 жыл бұрын
Indeed. I can't overstate the importance of free updates for life. It's just such a relief. For example, I recently had an issue with my video editor. Contacted customer support but they couldn't really help, because I'm using an older version of the software.. They recommended upgrading to the latest version in order for it to properly support the latest service pack of my OS... So, the OS get updated, and suddenly the video editor doesn't work properly anymore, and I have to pay almost $100 to upgrade to the latest version.. You just feel kind of robbed.. There are also bugs that they never bothered to fix, but again, they'll just refer to the latest update which features plenty of bugfixes (and also introduces new ones of course). It's how they trap you in a system that keeps you paying for updates for life... It's the same with most DAWS. They usually get away with it too, because they know most people don't have the time (or energy) to switch to a different software, requiring you to re-learn everything..

The most anticipated changes to FL: 1. Increasing the number of slots in the mixer channel (from 10 to 30), the patcher is not always suitable. This is the biggest problem for me. 2. Increasing the number of channels in the mixer (from 125 to 200) 3. In the Color Selector, adding the "RGB" tab, the most missing shades of gray among the default color tiles 4. Grouping channels in the mixer similar to grouping columns in Excel
@SauceMeGud3 жыл бұрын
I'm curious exactly what kind of grouping feature you'd like for the mixer. I agree with you about adding more mixer tracks, though. I'm grateful for everything the software already does, but it's amazing how quickly one starts to use up tracks when using sub-mixes and parallel/multi-stage processing. I also fervently agree with you about adding more plugin slots for each track. Patcher is pretty cool, and I try to use it here and there even when not strictly necessary just so I keep learning, but I'm old school. I like having lots of room to do things the traditional way as well. Especially given the need to use up slots for gain control, those ten slots really aren't enough a lot of the time.

Also, why is the effect chain still limited to 10 slots... I always end up routing the mixer channel to another one in order to get 10 more free slots, this is a UX design flaw. Patcher is cool and useful but sometimes I don't want to spend time dragging patch cables around and it gets all messy if all I wanted was a sequential flow - ihe chain in Patcher gets super horizontally wide and sometimes I want to turn off only 1 effect in the chain but I can't do that because I lose the signal flow and I have to reorder it around, move cables, uh
@FireWalkMusic3 жыл бұрын
Ideally, there should be the option to manually add more. I'm not a programmer so I can't say for sure, but I've read in the past that the reason there were only 99 mixer tracks in FL Studio was because of the way it was coded. It's made in Delphi so it's not as efficient as C++ applications. Apparently adding more mixer tracks would slow down the entire application, even if those tracks were not in use. That's why they've waited to add more tracks. They've basically been waiting for CPUs to get faster I assume. It's possible that adding more fx slots would also slow down the application. But I can't say for sure.
@charleeparkerxo3 жыл бұрын
Maybe you can help me figure something out. I used to have an input track on my mixer where I’d do some gating of the vocal and then compression. That mixer track would be routed to a vocal chain. I’m trying to figure out how to do that in this version but it’s hard to grasp.

great update but still editing wav file in #FlStudio is one hell of a time consuming.

You can do a lot in Edison, and newtone too. I'd wish there were more advanced editing tools for audio directly in the playlist though. For starters, handles on audio clips for quickly adjusting volume (fade in/ out etc) would be nice.. FL Studio still have a long way to go in that department.

I love FL, but its still got a long way to go before it catches up to the big boys. When they add a proper granular player, auto quantize audio, audio recording without having to select the mixer track each time, saving effect rack chains, and fix that stupid tempo change system - it'll be a bit closer in my eyes.

It sure has a long way to go still, but it's headed in the right way. They also regularly update it, and the updates are 100% free so I'm hopeful that they'll get there eventually. I have a long list of features I'd like to see added too. I've been advocating for a true folder track architecture for years, but so far we've only got an improvement to the rather basic grouping system. Handles on audio clips would also be nice, so that you can quickly adjust volume (fade in / out etc) on audio clips, and more integrated audio editing in the playlist, in general, would be nice too, to mention a few. :)

@@FireWalkMusic TBH i think they try to only do the bare minimum on updates to keep buyers invested but not have to spend too much. They could fix it all in 1 update if they wanted. I still love the software but i wish they would listen to their customers and address the glaring issues.

They should focus on audio editing inside play list more . Its been a long . Other daw do it well . In the world of services like splice etc . Fl studio should be turned into sampling monster . Only reason can't leave ableton for now. But love for fl studio will always be there . Rest they have done good . Looking forward to every update they do . 👍
@FireWalkMusic3 жыл бұрын
Indeed.. Ableton is still superior when it comes to audio editing directly in the arrangement. I'm hopeful that FL Studio will get there eventually though :) It keeps getting better with every update, and it's also regularly updated more so than most other daws.

@@FireWalkMusic FL is now a house hold DAW but the owners treat it as if it is still a toy software. The mixer should have better buttons and light plus at least four different skins to choose from. The channel rack dots badly need a face lift. The problem with European products they hate change and take long to catch up.

@@jamesbass6283 disagree. image line knows what fl studio is. mixer is fine to me, skins dont add up functionality, and also in fl 21 you can customize the entire gui

1. Much needed feature is still missing. Making automation clips inside sequencer so that there is less clutter in the playlist. (I know edit events but they suck) 2. Fl sampler must be improved in envelope ADSR section.the envelope draw tool must be overlayed on the sample waveform and there must be pre and post wave form just like Shaperbox2 and Ableton live does
@FireWalkMusic3 жыл бұрын
Yeah, there's still a lot of room for improvement. But at least it's steadily heading in the right direction. :)
