Would be amazing some kind of plug-in or setting where at the end of the pattern sequence instead of looping back on itself in the playlist the playlist instead creates a copy of the pattern that’s just been played & lays that down forward In the sequence. (Each pattern in the playlist is a copy of its previous self) crucial to this would be two controls “Hold” - infinitely loops back on the pattern just played for as long as you like , press hold again to unhold the looping pattern before & then continue in the sequence. “Clone 1,2,3…” where it inserts x numbered pattern in the playlist previously created (for a single pattern “bar”) then continues off from the previous pattern before it. So many opened possibilities.

You should send your idea to Image Line. Have done so as well my idea was very similar. Technically you'd just need a modified performance mode macro.

i do have a question. lets say you want to have kicks and drums on 4 bars loop but you want lead piano on 16 bars or something. Do you still need to copy paste kick drums playlist after you recorded it or is there somehow you can loop individual channels.

Unfortunately right now you cannot do that. In performance mode FL allows for different length clips to loop in sync but for some reason you cannot record midi into playlist clips in performance mode.

This was great thanks. Do you have an instruction on who to cut a loop from a guitar piece, I know it can be done. So if you already have a sound file and you want to highlight 4 bars and create real loop from that? Anyone?
@VoodooGMusic10 ай бұрын
I know live audio looping in FL is possible but I haven't done it myself. As for guitar sample looping you'd have to be more specific on exactly what you want to know because there's like 5 difference things you could mean. Are you talking about raw guitar processing and composition using FL? Do you want to know about recording? Do you wanna know about slicing rythm or lead guitar samples? Those all have very different considerations attached to them.
@thebloodyshambles10 ай бұрын
I mean say you have a recording of yourself playing rhythm guitar of 16 bars, you put it into a track on FL as mp3 or whatever, there is a way to chop the best four bars and creat a "true loop" I think its is called but I still can't find it. I guess you can also call this sampling? I started with FL in 2009, back then I had to do this ins Sony Sound Forge then move the sample back in. I believe it can be done in FL Studio now? Thanks very much for answering@@VoodooGMusic

Hey nice video!! I don't have this keyboard, but what do you prefer Code, Nektar T or Novation Impulse? I like the Code design but he has a lot bad reviews. Sorry for my bad english, i'm from Argentina.
@VoodooGMusic4 жыл бұрын
Those are very different keyboards. The Code is mainly a performance oriented device with features geared towards live use. The build quality of the Impulse is certainly superior to that of the Code, but it lacks some of the Codes features, I also don't know how well the Impulse works in FL Studio. Out of the keyboards you mentioned the Nektar Panorama T series in the newest one but I'm not too sure about it, haven't been able to test it. I do however kow the the P series is very good, so if you are worried about build quality but want a similar set of features I'd recommend getting the Panorama T6 or the Akai MPK 261. The Impulse is not really comparable to the Code, it is more of a composition tool than a performance keyboard although it can do that. You might wanna join my discord sever, there we can discuss this further.

Hi very helpful!I was wondering if there was a way to record live guitar loops with that approach?I have no idea how to combine it..I want to record live drum loops and then add guitar on top,do you have any advise on that?:/
@VoodooGMusic4 жыл бұрын
Yes you can! You need to follow the setup I did in the video, make sure you've got a selection in the playlist and song mode is enabled, also select blend recording at the top. Then you need to pick a mixer channel and select your audio input, probably your guitar input from the audio interface, the you click on record and select "record everything", it will then immediately start recroding and playing back the recorded piece,

Hi! Very nice video, thank you. I have exactly the same setup. Have you managed to turn off/on metronome from midi keyboard? And maybe you know how to loop-record many different patterns, and switch between them live?
@VoodooGMusic4 жыл бұрын
Switching between patterns is impossible using the Code alone, at least using the standard setup, I am not sure wheather you can use FL midi scripting to make something like this happen. To switch pattern you need a controller like the launchpad or Maschine Jam in addition, or you can just use your mouse. As for the metronome. There is the option of just adding a midi metronome and running it through a direct output rather than the master channel, that way you can just turn it off like every other instrument.

Great Video, the best I've been able to find on Live Looping. But I'm still puzzled as to the Sampler you have on the channel Rack. You didn't mention it at all in the video. Just before you say "hit rec and play," nothing is assigned to any mixer. Then on your next cut, they all seem assigned to their own mixer channel! With no mention of what you did and why. EG Where is the Edison supposed to be and what's it doing. It sits there throughout the entire video but doesn't even get mentioned once. Apart from that, Great video.
@VoodooGMusic4 жыл бұрын
Thank you for your feedback, I 'm gonna try and explain some things. The sampler in the channel rack serves absolutely no purpose I just forgot to delete it when I made this project, if you load the empty FL Studio template there will be an empty sampler on the channel rack because the channel rack cannot be empty. Why are things assigned to the mixer? For mixing of course, but this is a video about loop recording not about mixing, it doesn't matter if things are connected to your mixer or not, if they are unassigned in FL Studio they go to the master channel, I just assumed that people were aware of the fact that once all instruments are recorded into one file you cannot mix them anymore and should thus figure out the balancing before hand if you choose this recording method. Concerning audio recording: 3:08 There's the info you're looking for. I did not forget to mention it, my guess is you either didn't pay attention or stopped watching after I recorded the example song. I should have mentioned it before I started recording.

Yeah FL is kinda not designed for live use but it does offer enough general functionality that you can make it work. In my opinion if performance mode clips were arranged differently in a true 8x8 grid and you could record directly into them during performance mode, that'd be amazing, unfortunately it's currently not possible. So this is the next best option.

Why group all that together? How are you going to make edits when all your instruments are in the same midi track ?
@VoodooGMusic Жыл бұрын
This is a setup for live looping, and this is easiest done with this controller using a single clip, it is not at all well suited for editing... If you wanted to turn a loop into an edit, you'd have to break it up after the fact which would take about a minute, I don't see your issue here.

Hey VoodooG, awesome tutorial. I have a question. Do you know any way to mute or solo an instrument in the middle, or anywhere in the loop? I can only get it to mute AFTER the end of the assigned number of bars. I noticed that you also muted at the START of the loop for your solo. I wanna be able to mute/unmute/solo anywhere. I need this for example when I wanna throw in a silence for two beats before it restarts. Cheers!

But how to loop audio recordings?
@VoodooGMusic Жыл бұрын
Select audio recording on your recording settings and make sure to have a free mixer track into which your audio source is routed, FL Studio will automatically place the new recording into the playlist, keep in mind each time the song loops FL Studio will add an additional audio track to the playlist for as long as audio recording remains enabled, to disable only audio recording but not midi recording you will have you use the mouse and keyboard or find a script that links this action to a midi even which you can then link to a button on your controller. I don't know if such a script exists but I know it is possible to do this, am however not smart enough to do this myself in all honesty.
