In FL if you use the strum feature for chords it can change the velocities and the very slight timing of how the notes hit. Can make some really realistic sounds that way.

Yes, he linked the inserts together so now both sounds will be playing in both inserts if that makes sense. What that link does (it's called routing) is it takes the sound from the track you selected and routes it into another track. At the bottom there's a little dial, that changes the volume at which it routes. You can also use this for sidechaining aka when you want a sound to duck under the kick for example, so whenever the kick plays, that sound gets quieter. You would route the kick track to the track you want to sidechain and since you don't need the kick to be playing twice aka in both tracks, you wold turn the dial at the bottom all the way down. Now the kick is only playing in it's original track. Now that the tracks are linked, you can use a plugin like Fruity Limiter to sidechain it. Since Limiter is a bit harder to explain through text I recommend you search up a tutorial on how to sidechain in FL Studio.
