For those interested, Sound On Sound had an interview with T-Pain's mix engineer (Fabian Marasciullo) in their August 2008 issue and there is a snippet about this vocal effect. High points: - Yes it is done w/ Auto-Tune - T-Pain deliberately sings a little flat to get the effect to work better - It works well w/ T-Pain's voice since he sings with tremolo (plus other vocal qualities of his voice) - "You still have to know what you're doing from a musical perspective to get the effect to work."

Dear nfx another program that does that it is Cakawalk. Cakawalk comes the a professional plug in called V-Vocal which is meant to fix voices and make it sound seamlessly and perfect. Of curse you could make it sound robotic but, this is particular is meant to fix voices and make it sound 100% natural with perfect pitch.

Put it where you put all your VST plugins. Go to your list of effect plugins under the mixer, click "more...". Hit refresh, fast scan. It should show up red in the list. Check off that box, and now it will be under the usual replace/insert menus whenever you want to add it.

Wonderful tutorial, EXACTLY what I've been looking for! I have one issue I can't seem to get around, though. Gsnap doesn't seem to want to listen to my audio channel, which it's supposed to be changing. When I press play, Gsnap lights up the notes my MIDI tells it to, but no sound is produced. There are no red or green lines. What am I missing?

You have to select the More... option at the very top of the list of differet plugin things, you should find it in the list that pops up, and to make it show up in the list, you have to chekc a little box beside it.

RE: from the fx slot drop-down menu in the mixer (where you chose from the list of the effects), select "more" atop of the list. a window with all effect plugins available will pop up. click the refresh button in the lower corner and choose "fast scan". new additions will appear in the list as red. if a specific plugin didn't appear, choose "scan & verify" and click your way through the n error messages... once an effect is selected, it will appear in the list from the mixer, and there you go..!

And when i downloaded this, im not sure if i did it right, but i did put it into the VST plugin Folder, but i didnt actaully put it into a folder, in that folder.. FL did reconize it, but im not sure how to open it once i have it already in Fl

@MrJevio if you are talking about a cracking in your audio .. this might fix it , in FL studio go to options, then audio and slide the "buffer length" to the right until it goes away .. be aware that if you are using any hardware (eg a midi keyboard) it will be less responsive the further right you slide the buffer length
@DanubeRS15 жыл бұрын

i dont know if this is possible...which is why FL Studio is not in real studios...anyways, you can use the Windows Sound Recorder to record your voice, and then save it as a WAV, which FL Studio can open in any blank audio patch.

Your tutorial is very boring, but it was very educational too. I never knew that's what the midi ports were for! thanks a million.
@xORIGINx14 жыл бұрын
@FURRYDulaman Try this: Go to your mixer, pick a mixer track that you want to use and assign GSnap to it in the effects window (where you would load reverb, delay etc.). Make sure your mic is connected and set the "IN" (above the effects panel) to whatever input your mic is connected to - which would be your soundcard or audio interface. I don't know if this will work for sure, I'm not in FL Studio to check it. But you can give it a try.
@ezasspy14 жыл бұрын
UgoPS, i think you just need to pitch you voice higher or lower by octave for example and layer them
@hobinlobo7 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the tutorial. However, I can't get the vocal track to snap to the MIDI. I don't know if this is connected, but my gsnap also looks different from yours. I don't have the "ports" option (at least, not where you do). Also, around 11.15 and 11.30 are those extra windows part of Gsnap, or are they the DAW you are using. (I am using Reaper.) Thanks.
