thank you so much! I been using audacity to chop my loops, although it has proved to be useful, I discovered that its chopping size has a minimum so thank you for showing us how to do this. plus its simpler and you don't have to jump between all the windows, you can just do it in FL

Use the record button at the top of the main FL window (not edison) The button turns orange when recording mode is active. You can record input from a midi device, or if you have "typing keyboard to piano keyboard" enabled you can use your letter keys. It does not record mouse clicks on the virtual onscreen keyboards. Just another tip; you can "record" other functions too, like volume and panning in the step sequencer or mixer and even native FL effects settings. It is a pretty powerful tool.

The sample is from music De Wolfe studio's album "Bite harder" the song like you can see is "Flashpoint" In their prime during the 1970s Music De Wolfe used to supply incidental and backing music for a whole range of British produced television programmes. One show in particular was the legendary and ultimate Brit cop series, The Sweeney. They also provided the music for the Monty Python sketches.

i dont know if anyone got back to you on this but i think you might just need to unclick freeze at the bottom right of edison. i had the same issue until i changed that. hope this helps!

He just used the slices he made in edison and imported them into the Fruity Slicer. With the slices saved as individual midi notes, he just recorded the sliced part like you would with VST's etc.

I had this same problem... I just figured it out though Open Edison and load your sample then click on Drag/Copy Sample Selection its the button furthest to the right its the one that looks like a piece of paper with an arrow then it should select

Hi, Thank you for the video, Question: do you know in FL how to make a sample work on a "one-shot' method? What I want is the playlist sequences to play the sample for as long as the sequence is played, not longer. Now, the whole sample always plays, no matter how long the sequence is. Thanks, Robert

Hi, Thx for this great tutorial!! However I have a problem at the end of the process, when i try to drag the chopped off sample from edison to slicer, all the slices do appear on slicer but not the wave form.. and of course no sound.. :-/ been drivin me crazy as when I import only one selected slice from edison to slicer it does work... only for one part..... anyone...??

@alexkamrock set your sample perfectly onbeat with your drums. you can use the Fruity Limiter (attack knob)

After you make your melody in the channel selector or slicex you should be able to assign it to a mixer channel and render to wav which saves your cpu and you can build your own impressive wav libray file.s remember you can add small amounts of effects on the file before you render it to wav/ now just build your beat around the wav mix it tight and then once again render it all to wav that gives you a complete song in wav placed in your playlist, next record your vocals dry with lite parametric 2 eg , FLAT then take the jack joseph plugin and tweak your vocals in another track/ never in the bus vocal track or host track i mean...peace out to all producers

how do you put a whole mp3 on FL Studio so you can mess around with it. My mp3 is only about 40 seconds and when i put it in the step sequencer, it plays until the step sequencer runs out of bars then the song restarts again into a 2nd one, simultaneously as the original one plays. how do you put a long mp3 into the step sequencer without it restarting? there has to be some kind of option.

For some reason, just recently it stopped allowing me to highlight in edison... I was just using it last night and it was fine, but this morning everytime I try to highlight it just keeps zooming in and out of the wave...very frustrating. Any tips on how to remedy that situation??

How do i get the metronome to match up with the sample. its not an accapella sample, its a loop sample.
