Fl studio plugins might look more shiny and fancy but abletons philosophy has always been to prioritise function over form, the tools at your disposal in Ableton are more powerful and can reach a level of complexity some people probably don't realise

I am a long time fl studio user but after all these years, I installed the trial for ableton today. First, I must say that I never really used the handy step sequencer, because I mainly produce EDM or Orchestral music, and I always felt like ableton did this better. And even though I will take some time to adjust, and ableton has a lot of cons as well (e.g. only one plugin folder, worse piano roll, fewer customization options etc.) I actually consider switch after all this time...

FL Studio is actually better since the piano roll shortcuts are much easier, such as placing and deleting notes, and you can also repeat the same automation clip, in Ableton it's just an automation line that you can't repeat. Another cool thing is that there's a channel rack where you can place all of the channels without placing then in the playlist, this way you can have another pattern taking up the same track.

@@CoberlightShow 1, fl doesn't have one either and 2, to build one on either daw, its the same. Take your eq abd your volume follower/peak controller and map it to a bell u want to be dynamic and then have the signal inverted from the volume follower to duck dynamically instead of boosting. U can dynamic eq itself or put the volume follower or peak controller on whatever u are using as a volume based input to duck frequencies of another sound.

@@trgrgtgrtgr7724 That's definitely false. I've spent a lot of time online and the consensus between both fl and ableton users has always been that automation is Ableton is much more refined. In fl you need to create a new row for every parameter you want to automate simultaneously. In Ableton automation data is attached to the individual midi clip, you could have a hundred different automatons going all at once without needing the hundreds of rows like you'd need in FL.

I've said that the automation in FL are more profound and versatile, not that they are more pratical or easy to use, that's two different things. In FL you have tons more of options to draw your automation, you can use a step sequencer to generate automation, you can smooth out whole automation clip, you can automate parameter with midi data, you can use event, you can assign an infinite number of paramater to an automation, you can use different formula to change how the automation behave with each parameter and im forgetting a lot here. All things that you can't do with ableton's automation. So as i said in my very first post. FL automation might be more confusing but they are much more versatile and powerful. But hey, nice try bro 😉

they both have good and bad sides, but fl studio is much more easy to use and also the default theme doesnt look trash (ik you can change in ableton but still) also, in fl, the piano roll (or midi by ableton users) is actually so easy and good to use, in ableton u cant automatically make notes long when you place them unless u copy n paste, in fl u can just press a note and the next note u will make has the same length and its also just better but in ableton, the timeline is rlly good bc u can cut and select way more easily than fl, and automation is better in ableton

and also abletons warping algorithms are miles ahead of fl studios. everything is also made unique for you, so you never have to deal with pressing ”make unique”. On my PC: Fl Studio loads up in 5 seconds. Ableton spends a minute scanning plugins and I guess timing out on errors related to plugins every time it starts up. I really like Ableton more but I get a lot more done in FL because the idea is still in my head by the time it loads. When I rescan plugins in FL to recognize new plugins it takes just as long but I hardly ever have to do this.

fl studio is way easier to use and its a good daw made for beginners and experienced producers. it comes with presets for genres like house and dubstep that let you see what the elements roughly are. even if you are gonna argue about the ability to change colours? *FL 21 IS COMING SOON*

Fl studios workflow is so bloated compared to other daws. You have to manually route every track, wrangle patterns, etc. Fl studios is a good program but it will take an experienced fl user like twice as long to make the same song than it would any other daw lol.
