この姉妹作品は日米両者の戦う姿がリアルに描かれていて、戦争には主人公がいない、ある意味全員が主人公で、時間は一緒に進んでるということが感じられた。

I have both of these movies on DVD and I learned a lot about the Battle of Iwo Jima from both perspectives. 🇺🇸🇯🇵🇺🇸🇯🇵🇺🇸🇯🇵

I remembered that video too. It was so well done and I remembered it had not only those movies but also scenes from the Pacific Iwo Jima battle scene as well

It’s hard to tell I one is better than the other they both showcase the battle in a great way

both are very great movies, mybe letters from iwo jima is worse bc it showed the brutality of many in the imperial army

From the American perspective, we never see a Japanese soldier until they take the pillbox, and even then we don't see their faces. That was the terror of being on the offensive.

父親たちの星条旗も良い映画でしたが、予算の問題でCGを多用していました、そこが残念でなりません。硫黄島からの手紙はあまり双方に深入りし、戦争を美化する事なく、描いており、とても良い映画だと思います。戦争映画となるとどうしても偏った思想の映画が多いですからね。

That's is kinda not true, the japanese comited war crimes if not worse then Germany, almost no Asian country like China, Vietnam, Korea's and etc hate Japan till this day

@@sergeantsalty1236 i never said greatest generation, everyone comited war crimes in ww2, but Germany, Japan and Axis countries comited worse. Japan raped millions, did decapitation competitions, the germans killed, slaved and burned down entire villages in eastern front. it was true there was ammount racism and no gender equality back then in western countries but i ll tell you this, can you imagine what the Nazis or japs would do agaisnt those who fought for those rights?

How my grandfather survived I don't know he even engaged in hand to hand combat for 2 days. ! They but his thumb off he came back. With his bayonet. 4 Japanese killed. Share that in schoolthe my uncle in Korea and dad aand nino in Nam.
