Togo's flag ratio makes the most sense. It says that the flag must follow the golden ratio. That's more or less what many other countries (3:5, 5:8, etc.) are trying to emulate. But Togo was smart enough to basically just say: "Yeah, we follow the golden ratio. Period." - I think that's clever.

It's the ratio that the numbers in the Fibonacci sequence approach between themselves. Since this sequence is seen in nature a lot, it's makes shapes with that ratio really appealing to the eye. The golden rectangle (A rectangle with that ratio) has been scientifically found to be the easiest shape to look at. There's also a bunch of cool mathematical tricks you can do with phi (Such as how phi^2 = phi +1 and 1/phi = phi - 1) among other things. Togo made a really good choice with their flag ratio.

The Fibonacci sequence producing the Golden Ratio is true, but that's kind of giving it too much credit. Any sequence taking the sum of the previous 2 terms as the next term will produce the Golden Ratio. In my opinion, the Lucas sequence is most intimately associated with φ, as the Nth term of the sequence = φ^N (rounded). (Incidentally, the Lucas sequence also follows the " taking the sum of the previous 2 terms as the next term" rule, starting with 1 and 3.) 2. Fibonacci numbers do turn up in nature, but the extent to which that is the case is usually exagerated. 3. I don't know of any study that claims that the Golden Rectangle is the most appealing. I think it's just that everyone agrees with it being "perfect".

The Belarusian flag at the end is what it used to look like. The current one is more or less linked to it's current "president" Lukashenko(let's be honest, he's basically a dictator). You can see this flag (white-red-white) on the Chevron/Patches of the Belarusian soldiers fighting alongside Ukrainians troops against russians.

Togo’s proportion is 1 : φ (which is equivalent to one plus the square root of five, divided by two), it’s the Golden Ratio hence the most beautiful flag. Phi is about 1.6, where as printed paper of A4 size is 1: sqrt 2, around 1.4. Tbh all flags should either by 1 : 1.4 or 1 : 1.6.

Key words there being "in such a small time." 27 (I think) in 246 years is an awful lot better than 19 in around 100 years, especially when there were like 7 in the same year. About the Belarusian flag: there is a massive conflict with the government and so the whole nation now sticks to their old flag (this white red and white) which at the same time represents the revolution. So Duolingo kinda shows it's disapproval of the Belorusia president's cruelty.

Oh my goodness! I live near DC, and I’ve been in that flag store!! It’s called the Alamo flag company in falls church, Virginia. It’s super cool to walk around. They have all sorts of flags, ribbons, lanyards, metals, pins and so much more! I love that store so mich and could walk around it for hours even though it’s not the largest. You wouldn’t believe how excited I got when I saw that picture and realized I’ve been there!

Togo has a flag that has the golden ration, meaning that the rectangle replicates itself for infinity and the ratio is a naturally occurring phenomena that plants often abide to. Their flag would be the shape of the golden rectangle, but another use for the golden ration is constructing the pentagram. I love math and I love Togo's flag, they really had some thought that was put into it.

I knew somewhat about it, at least that it was a fern and that ferns are an important symbolic plant in New Zealand, particularly to the Maori. It's (sort of, but not to the same degree) similar to how many flags and crests in (Anglo) Canada had the maple leaf motif (in red or green, stand alone or in garlands) long before the official adoption of it as a national symbol. (Quebecois Canada, on the other hand, uses the Fleur-de-lis from the old Kingdom of France a lot instead. Since they never technically participated in any of the French Revolutions, as they had already become an English conquest long before then.)

3:52 I had a similar solution to this, but using the Saint David flag where you outline the centre cross with yellow as that flag is just the English one (Saint George btw) but with yellow and black apart from red and white. Defo looks better than just dragon dropping the UK flag, easy to update, and sticks with the theme of the Saint flags being used
