A little post video context.. Spent a whole day messing with the core SS, pretty frustrating actually.. Was trying to get my 3D arrows to work out of it that were 400 spine 3DHV's (same arrows in video) moral of the story, the arrows were underspined and wouldn't tune.. It led to my cam's being pushed all the way to one side, and really changed the feel of the bow.. Now I went back to my hunting arrows, re-tuned the bow, flipped the cams to smooth draw, and it feels like a shooter again. That said, it still lost today's shoot off and the Darton and Bear punch way above their weight class. I need to figure out which bow is going to travel with me to first TAC of the year...

I totally understand that, nothing wrong with trying to figure out the optimal setup. Sometimes, it just doesn't work out the way we plan, until we get some real world tests in. I appreciate your passion and commitment to the archery community and I love how your video are just plain fun! I always look forward to another video. Thanks for sharing!

I shot my club's winter 3D shoot with my Bear Whitetail Maxx, Alaskan XT, Bowtechs RPM 360 and Prodigy. I was pleasantly surprised when my Alaskan XT scored the highest, the Whitetail Maxx came in 2nd, and the Prodigy and RPM 360 came in 3rd and 4th, respectively. You should shoot the Alaskan XT at TAC.

Recently ordered my first flagship bow ever. Still have my old midrange bow as well. I’ve only ever shot midrange bows and done quite well with them. Reps reps reps and a good setup. I’d love to see either Darton or Bear win out in this solely because they are a midrange model. Thanks for an honest channel Tim!

For the bubble drifting back and forth, I have had the same issue. It's two things. One the way your hand sits on the grip of the bow each bow has a slight change in pitch and angle even though it's so small you can't see it, it does change how your hand sits in the grip which changes how your hand torques the bow. The second is the back wall. If you pull more into the back wall, both the bubble and pin will drastically slow down and sit still for the shot
@ryanpeterson9838
@ryanpeterson9838 2 ай бұрын
One thing I tried from Paige P is adjust your first axis bubble to your natural hold. It’s way more comfortable and you put less torque into system then weighting up your bow.

For your 3D shoot off to shoot off, I’d be interested to see you shoot the whole course with one bow without swapping. Then swap and do the same with the others. That way you’re building consistency throughout the whole course and shooting your best score possible with each bow.

I think the reason the darton is so forgiving is the combination of brace height and zero reflex in the riser. Only thing to watch out for is the limbs on the darton. I’ve seen a few guys with limbs splintering. Darton is a stand up company and I’m sure warranty will cover the problem I hope they find the issue like a bad batch of limbs and it doesn’t turn into a huge limb issue. That said the consequence is still top two on my list for my son.

Ive been struggling hard to get my bow to like an Easton Axis 4mm. I went down to 340 spine to get them light and fast. Cut them as short as possible but still ran into inconsistent tears. Ran in circles for a week with it thinking it was tuned. Long story short I made up some 300 spine X Impacts today and the bow loves them. Got two short weeks to get them dialed. Coming down to the wire!

In an attempt to limit wind drift (gusts), wouldn’t it be better to rubber band groups and measure vertical and horizontal deviation? I like comparisons because today’s models are all upgrades to what I started with and information is key deciding purchase factors.

I think the Darton doesn’t have the reflex the others have so it’s not torque as easily. MFJJ I think would say the same. I’m digging the Darton. I like your work. It’s just honest reviews and just shooting with the guys. It’s not forced trying to sell something.

Tim your alignments a little off on your release side, shows mostly on the Bowtech. Your right elbow is a little above the arrow. Have to feel out the fix, little more loop length or just work on keeping that elbow in place and rotating your hand/forearm up. George Ryals has a video on this, 2023 Vegas presentation.

I have a Bowtech CP 30 it’s a solid shooter but my Bear Alaskan is no slouch either. The Alaskan can do 90% of what the CP 30 does for only 40% of the cost. Two good platforms made in the USA it’s good to have competition in manufacturing to get Joe Average shooting and enjoying this great sport!

Hey Tim just a little friendly advice,I’m guessing you’re going for max speed. For TAC .In my experience l can’t get a 400 spine arrow cut at 27.5 with a 100 grn tip to go much faster than 290 FPS and bullet thru paper . The tune just seems to come apart as far as accuracy is concerned.A 340 spine can take a lot more juice from A bow cranked up past 64 lbs . My advice for build that can handle more modern cam speed and and still tune out with your Bowtech is this. 6.5 Easton 340 @28” 3 fletch blazers and a115 grn tip that build will hit the scale at approximately 415 grns it will take all the speed you can give it and the tune won’t come apart

Noticed on most of your shots the video is cut while at full draw, just wondering how long you’re staying anchored in before your shot actually breaks. I know the longer I’m at full draw the more pin movement I get and the worst my shot usually is. Keep up the good work.

Good stuff. Pretty good with all 3. IMO you could do a bit better with any/all 3 on any given day. That is based on what I have seen of your marksmanship here on vids. I put the Bear paw grip on my Alaskan XT this morning at the shop. It gives a"fuller" purchase and seems more stable to me. I am a bigger build and wear L to XL glove so not sure it is good for for everyone. But my son(16) put one on his Legit also and is thrilled. You might give that some thought. Thank you.
