After watching nearly all of Sam's videos I've really grown a strong desire for long distance sailing. For quite a while I've dreamed of building my own cabin in the woods. Now I'm thinking the woods might not be big enough, I need the world in my backyard. Been looking at the equity stored in my motorcycle hobby a little differently. Maybe a pirates life is the life for me.

FYI -The Racor filter is your primary and the yanmar on the engine fuel filter is considered the secondary. When putting the new yanmar filter on don't just put it in the metal bowl and screw it on, you should really fit the filter on by pushing it up, then put some diesel in the bowl before screwing the retaining but on. Also, yanmar filters replacement filters are normally pink in color, be careful of aftermarket filters (like some on Amazon which are more of a yellow color) since they don't fit correctly and cause issues - at least they did for me. Thanks for the video and being so candid.

Just a comment for armchair sailors. Sam is SUPER chill. It is AMAZING that he manages to do video when under stress. I've been sailing for 55 years (started at 10). Have yet to cross an ocean, but there's still time. Here's the thing. In my experience 3/4 of people get seasick and heeling in a 20kt wind with gusts to 25++ really stresses people out. Keep your sail area small when the wind is above 10 kts. Reef early and as soon as you feel a hint of stress. You're not racing. There are many wonderful adventures to be had on skinny lakes (NY) where the fetch doesn't build up so much. If you know how to sail and can afford a bareboat charter on Lake Champlain or the BVI or Puget Sound, it is a fantastic vacation.

Diesel tech here, i would be careful with putting anything non combustible directly into the filter housing. Sea foam is magic stuff, but better in the tank. the metering of the injectors shouldn't let enough in the cylinder to hydrolock but its also not going to burn off until the fuel ratio is correct to burn. just my 2 cents, keep up the good work and keep the heavy side down.
