Great video Flambass! When units select a new target they choose the one they can attack the fastest. This includes time to turn around. That's why the rhine just walks straight ahead to the next tower. Also happens quite often to snipers due to slow turning speed.

While the nuke made it seem like it wiped all of your stuff, surprising amount of them actually survived. I was fairly sure only scraps of your left flank managed to get away, but when the smoke cleared, it turned out that a fair amount of phoenixes on the right survived as well.
