At 38:05 I think all 4 tanks were killed; 2 were destroyed outright, and the 2 that were bailed cannot retreat so they are captured (destroyed) too.

Causing tanks to fall back is kind of weird. You have to bail out or destroy at least 2 (or less if higher) tank teams to defend against the assault. If you are bailed out during the assault you back up. Its on page 76 of the rulebook: "When a unit Falls Back, any Tanks that were Bailed Out by the Defensive Fire also Fall Back to reflect being hit while closing to contact". Now if the bail outs would have happened during the assault (say a counter attack), then the bailed out tanks would have been destroyed.

@@dragontankgaming So because the assault hadn't actually started yet, the tanks bailed-out by defensive fire are allowed to retreat. That's odd... I'll have to look that up. I'm not sure my club has been doing it right, OTOH I'm not sure this exact scenario has come up. Thanks for the reply, and especially for the page number 🙂

@@zxcvbob Yea my playgroup used to do that too, oh bailed out while moving into assault? Destroyed. But nope, just pushed back. As simple of a game as Flames of War seems to be, it does have the nuance and weirdness to make you think twice about some rules.

heh...it didnt matter but.... The rule (on page 81) is that when a platoon fails a platoon morale roll, surviving tanks that are NOT bailed out just get removed: The crews simply drive off (as you would do). If a surviving armoured vehicle is bailed when you fail a platoon morale roll, THEN the crew destroys it and flees, leaving it as a wreck on the battlefield (as would have happened to your little carrier on the left flank). As for the game, you need infantry to attack AT guns, not tanks :)

Thought I had corrected that rules misunderstanding about the last stand/pulling vehicles. Actually looking back at the video he got damn close to crushing my right flank. Out of 3 penetrations he only got ONE kill on the 17pdr. If he got the other 2 I might have had a failed last stand before my 6pdrs came in as back up and his Tiger would have, likely, stuck around.
