I'm new to the game, just two months in. But I'm all in and eating it up. As a beginner I watch many videos especially those Batreps with you, Jake and AMG&S. Thank you for those. But just this simple list building video is one of the most helpful I've seen for my novice opponent and me, since we're both learning on our own. So Thank you 100 times!!! I hope to catch more "learning" videos instead if just Batreps. They're very helpful. While batreps are great and enhance learning overall game play, the "How-to" or "FoW for Dummys" videos are the best to get the foundation necessary for good and "legal" game play. Including of course list building.

I would love to see more of these kinds of videos, especially ones on tactics. My regular FoW opponent plays Germans and I struggle to beat him with no matter what I bring. He'll usually fields an armored car company with a Tiger or a Pz.III company and then uses Blitz and Shoot-and-Scoot cheese to almost always prevent return fire. I've only managed to beat him once with my Americans by baiting him into an assault against unpinned armored infantry so he's learned his lesson to never do that again.

I find Germans are not as bad in V4 since everyone can do the same movement orders. For most units, except Tigers, they usually only pass on a 3+, so to do both requires to consecutive 3+, it's not likely he will be successful every turn, and remember if he fails the first movement order he can't attempt a second.

Any advice for list building in Late war for version 4? I play 9th Armored Division from Bridge at Remagen but I haven't actually played a game with the new rules.
@pbeccas7 жыл бұрын
I really like list building vids. What I would really like to see is a vid about how exactly an army reaches its breakpoint. I understand how an individual unit hits breakpoint, but not the whole formation. New to FOW so still learning.
@AllMiniaturesGreatandSmall7 жыл бұрын
Good point. A formation breaks if it has less then two units in good spirits. In V4 there is no roll or test, the Formation just breaks and if it's your only formation the game is over. Keeping that formation in good spirits is a big part of V4.

What I just do is look at book then write down possible combinations. Then I compare lists to see which one is best. There are 4 important categories 1 firepower/ anti tank 2 numbers 3 morale 4 Protection
@bolter4457 жыл бұрын
Would personally say the armored rifles are an amazing option because they can keep up with your armored advance and are probably the best armed and equipped infantry platoon in the game
@AllMiniaturesGreatandSmall7 жыл бұрын
Armored Rifles are a stand out unit but the halftracks can often be a liability. with infantry moving 8" a turn in V4 they can keep up with tanks pretty easily even without the easy to destroy halftracks. It's always good to have options though.
@bolter4457 жыл бұрын
Fair but the halftracks do mean at least "some" protection for the infantry and can make for some decient mg fire support after the doughs disembark.

I just get a german army (out of the generic late war book) and I struggle a lot with list building (my main opponents are british and US), I feel like the PzIV aren't great, the Tiger hard to get and the Panther way too pricey. I won't mind some advice from experienced players ! I usualy bring a Panzer IV company list (1750pts) like this: -2 PzIV HQ -3 PzIV -3 Panthers -3 Panthers -1 small Panzergrenadiers platoon
@AllMiniaturesGreatandSmall6 жыл бұрын
That's a tough one. PZ IVs aren't that great when there are Shermans with Stabilizers or Semi indirect fire. So what does the PZ IV have ? Well you do have the Storm Trooper rule. It's a lot harder to pull of then previous versions but if you pull it off a timely blitz, followed by a successful Scoot and Shoot means those fragile Pz IVs hopefully wont be shot at.
@ulissenoone48136 жыл бұрын
@@AllMiniaturesGreatandSmall Thanks for the answer ! I'll try that out next friday, I guess I'll have to give a go to the StuG too, they probably stay on the table longer than the PzIVs if I'm the defender...
@ulissenoone48136 жыл бұрын
@@AllMiniaturesGreatandSmall Well, PzIVs might be weak but when they fight nothing they hold objectives pretty well ! Panthers in the others hand seems to be behemot, crushing 2 shermans 76 uparmouredand 2 105 taking one hit only. For the next match I'll try a Panther company (2 Panthers + 2*3 Panthers) and a grenadier company ( HQ + 2*7 grenadiers platoon 3 PaK40), Let see how I roll agaisnt the shermans wave...
@AllMiniaturesGreatandSmall6 жыл бұрын
Panthers are great, but are expensive. 3 Confident Veteran panthers clock in at over 600 points. For example, all Panthers versus Shermans is usually a good thing for the Germans, but terrain and mission can really factor in. Can the Shermans get in knife fighting range before losing too much? Can flanking reserves hit your side armor?Flank shots with Stabilizers go through Panthers almost as easily as PZ IV. But, lets say, instead of Shermans you opponent plopped down an American Rifle or Prar company. Now your life just got harder. The truth is you can win with either though and that is one of the great things about flames of war.
@ulissenoone48136 жыл бұрын
@@AllMiniaturesGreatandSmall Well be played bridgehead and I was attacker, didn't go well. I experiment with my panthers trying to spread them and act like shepered to gather the sherman in one location but I got outflack by freaking ambush and loose almost everything without my opponent loosing much. I'll be more carefull next time. I need some artillery and more infantry for my next list...
@freshviolets5 жыл бұрын
Could just use the tanks to carry infantry with the tank passenger rule. There's so many tanks they could give the infantry a lift for a turn or two.
