Final Chance (PHASE 4) [Disbelief Theme]

That final fight is just gut-wrenching. Especially when Papyrus's expression changes when he starts lobbing basketballs at you. He's using every attack he can think of, but not to hurt you - he's desperately trying to get through to you; to remind you of the good times you've had together however he can. His boss battle attacks, his dopey outfits, his dreams of driving a racecar... Everything shows up. But none of it works, and that's what finally makes him lose hope and give you your turn, knowing full well that he's about to die. For a fan animation about a video game about talking goats and wisecracking skeletons, it's amazingly fleshed-out and incredibly poignant. Flames must have worked his fingers to the bone getting everything exactly right, and I really commend him for that.

Phase 4 is my favorite phase, and here is why... This phase embraces who Papyrus actually is as a character, funny, wacky, and flat out cool. This song fits so well with his character, and the attacks are so well planned out. The final phase made me feel as if I had played the full game with this route, and I regretted ever doing a Genocide run. I wanted to spare Papyrus so awfully... I cried when he was killed, despite still believing you can change... That you can do a little better... This, by far, is the best representation of Disbelief Papyrus, I have, and probably will witness...

I like to think of my own little dialogue on the side of an animation (despite dialogue actually being there) and I actually cried a little bit (I felt tears in my eyes) when Papyrus died and I couldn't help but smile at Phase 4

I never expected a fan-made fight to be this emotional. It’s because it turns out Papyrus still believed in you all along. He’s not giving up on you. He had only pretended not to because that was what Sans would have wanted. So he wants you to just give up so you can be friends again. When he finally decides to let you have your turn, you have a choice. If you kill him, he still believes in you. If you spare him, he forgives you.

The saddest thing about this part is the genocide ending. You still choose to fight, even though this whole time, he’s just been trying to make you remember. All the good times there was with him. Alternate timeline or not. Even his end line: “I believe you can do the right thing. We can still have a happy ending..” is just sad. And the saddest part of all in this phase, is if you do decide to kill him.. he even tries to stop you, right when your about to attack. This entire thing just makes me want to stop and never do a genocide route again

Disbelief Papyrus is by far the BEST Papyrus FANGAME and one of the best in all of Undertale due to the fact that even though he puts Papyrus in the position of Sans, carrying all the lives the human took, he still retains the essence of the TRUE Papyrus. This is reflected in the battle itself and its 4 phases: In phase 1 Papyrus is between the desire to avenge his brother and his teacher/friend and his ideals of not fighting, of giving a second chance and of making friends (that's why in the last attack of his first phase he stops his own attack so as not to harm ourselves to later break down in tears) It also looks like Papyrus doesn't want to kill us when he defeats us because he does the same as in normal Undertale and "locks us up" If we are so cruel to take Papyrus to his second phase by attacking him, he becomes enraged, losing faith in us and attacking to kill In his third phase Papyrus gives us everything using attacks from Sans and Undyne for the memory of them 2, but finally he decides to be the same There comes the final phase where he attacks us with balls, the stroller, the bone, all these are memories of happy times, Papyrus wants us to remember this, to be friends again, that's why he gives us the turn later, because he trusts us (which makes it more heartbreaking that we kill him and happier that we spare him) This can also be seen when he kills us, as we can see that he does it this time unintentionally, apologizing, and asking us to get up and be okay.
