We used these crush washers when connecting the stainless braided vacuum lines to the wall hook-ups in the walk-in autoclaves at Lockheed's APC (Advanced Prototyping Center) In Palmdale, CA. One time use, just like copper or aluminum washers on oil pan bolts.

Hi Mark - In terms of ideas for future Cruzer video, I was wondering if you could make a video on "oil canning". Ultimately, I am going to find out myself once my Cruzer is completed a few years hence. Its something I read about now and then and it would be interesting to see a video on this - what it sounds like, how often, what type of flight brings it on, etc. Thank you

I'm guessing the flap motor failure question arose following the 150 crash on takeoff just before Oshkosh. Having plenty of power and a good aircraft design helps...

Since you're building your second iteration of the 750, you should know the design fairly well by now... I have been pestering Zenith with a question that they seem hesitant(?) about answering for some reason. Maybe it's liability issues or something. Anyway, I figured you might have an opinion: how big of a venture would it be to build a Cruzer with a manual flap handle instead? Ideally it'd be a twin stick version with a central flap handle, but I suppose the 701 solution works too.
@KitplaneEnthusiast3 жыл бұрын
There’s a large torque tube that the flap motor rotated to lower the flaps. There’s no reason why it could not be actuated manually, but you better have the engineering background and the fabrication experience to make such a design change. It’s possible, but I wouldn’t recommend it unless you have the knowledge and skill to do so.

Dam it! I fell for the click bait!! Your flaps didn’t fail 😜

I just bet you love having that power and lift should a flap motor fail. That sure would be comforting to me. How about a flap failure with zero flaps and landing? I guess it would just be more speed
@KitplaneEnthusiast3 жыл бұрын
No flaps are necessary for takeoff, and in another video I did show a no flap landing. Sorry I have no idea which video it was though-one of the flying videos. A flaps up failure is a non-issue!

Come on guys... Zenair high wing airplanes are the most permisive machines, the STOL 701, 750, super duty 750, even the 801 and 801 HD, i allready built a 701 stol in 2001 and an 801 in 2005, in 2016 i built a cruzer and flew several times a stol 750 and belive me.... you can do unbelivebel things with this machines, like a stall with speed 0mph and droping 150/250 fpm with a smooth wing shaking. I love it... great machines with or whitout flaps, dead stick landing and even 180 turn after take off, great glide ratio, cheap, is a MUST TO BUY machine...
@LTVoyager3 жыл бұрын
The speed is not zero. The only time an airplane has zero speed is at the apex of a hammerhead.
@paulopilot733 жыл бұрын
@@LTVoyager actually is zero, if you do a stall on a 701 or 750 STOL aircraft and you keep the nose up in the stall and not instantly recover it and keep it with nose up you get the numbers i said 0 speed and -150/250fpm.... try it
@LTVoyager3 жыл бұрын
@@paulopilot73 Your ASI indicates 0, but that is because it doesn’t read correctly at high angles of attack. Even with no forward speed, falling straight down at 250 fpm is still 3 MPH, not zero. And you aren’t falling straight down, you are likely moving forward at least 30 MPH in addition to the downward vector. If you have a GPS, let us know if that reads 0 MPH.

Electric flap failure....Dan Gryder says SOP is to put it down in a corn field.
@wb6anp3 жыл бұрын
That question is probably due to the Cessna 150 crash after a flap motor failure with full flaps on a go around. It won't climb with 40 degrees of flap.
@KitplaneEnthusiast3 жыл бұрын
That's unfortunate. I can see that though-the 150 will barely climb with no flaps! That's a lot of drag hanging out there.

I'm against attaching any device (cameras) to an airplane that partially obscures the vision of the pilot. At two miles an airplane becomes a speck that can easily hide behind a GoPro.
