See if you need to reset your passcode (it could remove it from /system somwhere), otherwise try resetting your phone.

Take a hairdryer, turn it on, apply it to the area of ur Nexus 6P thats above the fingerprint scanner and glass area on the back for about a minute or two WHILE the bootloop is occuring. Give it a shot, it JUST worked for me!

A device with BLOD is definitely going to be laggy and there is no way to run your Nexus 6p on 8 cores once you got BLOD Android 9 worked fine with my old 6p with BLOD(for about 5 months) untill one day it died for good.

Hi Wilber. I'd recommend flashing the ROM again or wiping data to see how that goes. The camera is having some problems (with GCam) but Open Camera works. Have a look on the XDA thread to see if anyone else is having issues with the Play Store.

Hi Lilix, yeah there is a very real chance that after your first BLOD, you phone may become unusable after a while. Every time I've heard of this, there seems to be no software way of recovering. I haven't heard of anything wrong with the 6P's eMMC but at this point you might as well get a new phone. :(

I installed this Rom for my Nexus 5x version and to my surprise Rom didn't start, just loading on the launcher screen, stayed for over an hour and didn't start. I was sad because I always used Pixel Experience in previous versions and never had any problems, only in this version :(

Why don't you try using fastboot to flash the new recovery image required for this, then wipe your data if TWRP can't decrypt it. You will have to anyways, so no biggie there. Sorry for the late reply.

What file did you end up downloading? I'm guessing you tried to open the file, rather than pressing [enter] for the command. Make sure you have the command prompt window active before pressing [enter].

Can you boot up on stock? If you can't you may have an issue called the bootloop of death (where 4 physical cores of the CPU dont' work anymore).

Hey, managed to boot into TWRP but since I have the BLOD I can't add all those files to my phone's storage so instead I am trying to sideload them. The Pixel Experience file was successful but the boot.img (4core) is recognised as corrupt and cant be sideloaded. Isn't there another 4core boot.img to add on top of the Pixel Experience? I also tried to unpack the boot.img from the ROM but when it unpacks there's no files in ramdisk in order to alter them into 4cores. 🤔

Dude I cant thank you enough! your videos have been so educational! my phone finally got fixed thanks to yours and other people's genius! after flashing like a million imgs. and failing I factory reset the thing using the latest TWRP and it's storage was recognised by my PC and so I finally followed the steps on your video. Only one question left, is there something I can do to optimise/increase the speed of the phone?

Hi Andreas! I'm sorry for the late reply! The 4 core boot.img can be flashed via fastboot, since it's an image. I didn't show that because I was using the BLOD files and I was able to access my internal storage through TWRP. For future reference, you should be able to use ADB to push the file to another writable/readable directory, such as /persist or even /cache and you'll be able to find that when you press Install. Yeah I guess you just needed the data wipe, but as for performance, I wouldn't push it too much, since you're already running on 4 cores (which is the main reason for the poorer speed/performance). I don't think there is much you can do when it comes to increasing performance on BLOD.

Were you asked to decrypt the /data partition? You may have to wipe data first if this is after flashing the provided TWRP recovery from the ROM thread.

Cores should come up again after things cool down, unless you've flashed the 4-core BLOD patch when you didn't have to. To undo it, flash the ROM's stock boot.img. The camera last time I used it only worked using Open Camera.

If you can, you can try using a USB OTG adapter so you don't have to rely on a cable between your phone and PC to flash the files. Otherwise, try another port and another cable. Your computer's age shouldn't be an issue, as long as it has been maintained well. :)

Is it just the 5 GHz hotspot, or even the 2.4 GHz? Check the ROM thread to see if it's a known issue, if not raise it up. However, I do recall a problem with the hotspot from previous Android 10 ROMs.

okay im a total noob when it comes to flashing. this is my first time ever i will flash a custom rom :-) Im at 5:47. Whenever i restart my Nexus 6P it says no command. after i press volume up. while seeing no command. i see the following Information. Hi, you probably didn't have a custom recovery (TWRP) installed before. It was my mistake to assume that. What you can do is use the fastboot command: fastboot flash recovery [drag in TWRP.img] Then boot into recovery mode to do the rest. Except you can skip flashing TWRP since you've done that just then. Sorry for the late reply!

Hi Giann, it seems like you worked it out hehe, 4 cores are only used under certain loads, so CPU-Z would show that at times. Generally speaking, if you don't remember doing anything special to make your phone work again, you probably aren't affected by the BLOD. :)

Hi Okazizi, sorry for the super late reply, you probably already figured it out. But no need for root, as you read and hear, only an unlocked bootloader is required. If you have a backup on your Google Drive it should restore when you set it up.

One of the December builds I think. PE isn't being maintained anymore for angler so it's recommend getting a different Android 10 ROM.

I don't think many other camera apps work except for Open Camera (on Play Store). PE is also no longer maintained so these issues may never be fixed. :(

Is it known why some people get the bootloop of death and others don't? Every time I've tried to install a custom ROM, I get the BLOD. I would rather not limit myself to only 4 cores.

The BLOD is a hardware issue in the SoC that makes using the 4 big cores unusable. If you can run the stock ROM without the need for changing anything in the kernel (forcing it to use 4 cores), you probably don't have the BLOD.

This is not my first Nexus device, so I am quite familiar with the process of rooting and flashing ROMs. I've tried to flash Pixel Experience 10 and another one called EvolutionX. Both times after flashing TWRP says "No OS installed" after flashing, but if I ignore that and go to reboot, I see the boot logo of the ROM, so that message probably has something to do with the kernel. When I extract the boot.img from the ROM zip file and flash it manually, TWRP no longer gives me the "No OS installed" message, but I'm still stuck with the BLOD. Scouring the xda forum hasn't yielded any fruit as far as figuring out what the issue is.

Yeah you should be fine, is recommend flashing the latest fa tory images before flashing the ROM. Although I'd try find a different ROM since PE is no longer being maintained.

I just installed pixel experience (10) following your vidéo. At first IT didnt work, so i followed an other video that showed how to root my phone. After that, i succesffully installed pixel experience. I checked if my phone was rooted with check root app and IT Says my Nexus 6p is not rooted. Is this situation normal? Ive noticed my Facebook app and all other app that use wifi are slow. But the software is real Quick, can you help?

Yep, flashing a ROM does require TWRP and an unlocked bootloader. After flashing the ROM, if you don't flash Magisk, you won't be rooted as the boot.img from the ROM doesn't come with it pre-installed. Also make sure that you haven't flashed the 4-core patches if you don't require them, they're only for those with the BLOD. In other news, Pixel Experience isn't being maintained anymore for the 6P so you might want to take a look at a different Android 10 ROM.

Just have a question it's not regarding Android 10 but regarding stock Oreo 8.1.0, when I restart or shut my phone down then turn it back on again, i get a message saying 'decryption unsuccessful' and have to reset my phone again. I haven't heard of that before! You might want to flash a custom kernel that doesn't force encrypt (you might need a special ROM with that too), and then wipe your data.

Can you update your Nexus 6P to the latest Pixel Experience? No issues with the installation but rooting it is a problem. Not sure if it's me but installed the January New build on Nexus 6p. Used the TWRP that was issued for the build. Tried to root it with no success. Tried with TWRP, tried sideloading the zip, tried patching the boot IMG with Magisk and no dice. Is this a bug? Getting an ERROR 1. Appreciate it.

Error 1 sometimes suggests a mounting issue. Can you see if in TWRP in the Mount menu, you have /system mounted? Read only is fine too. I can try it out later too for you!

You probably didn't use the provided TWRP for PE 9.0, which is required, and if you did use that, you needed to format data. If you don't have the BLOD, then you don't need the 4 core patch.

It should go to TWRP if you had flashed it when you rooted your 6P (assuming you have rooted it). Otherwise, you'll need to follow the Pie video (if it shows using fastboot), but just use the files of the Android 10 Pixel Experience. :)

2020 and still using my nexus. Have yet to find another phone that can replace it. Front facing speakers, nice aluminum body, headphone jack and the battery is easy to remove compared to newer phones if you leave the screws out. Plan on keeping it as long as possible.

1. If your phone hasn't bootlooped and you haven't done anything to fix it such as flashing a patched boot.img/kernel which only uses the small cluster of cores, you don't have the BLOD. 2. Magisk is a root & root management package. If you don't want root access or a way to pass SafetyNet, you don't have to flash Magisk. You can read more about it on the Magisk XDA thread. No problem Giann! So the BLOD affects all versions of Android since it is a hardware problem. Use the bootloader that matches the build of your ROM, but since we stopped getting updates in December, just use the latest bootloader and radio images from the last factory image for the 6P. You can only 'fix' it by using any ROM with the 4 core patch (to limit the use of the 8 core processor down to the small 4 cores, due to the hardware problem affecting the 4 big cores). You will also need to use the TWRP build with the 4 core patch, otherwise it is likely that your phone won't boot the regular TWRP.

Hi faurog, sorry for the late reply. I've never really tried to use it, I've heard from someone who has been using MicroG for a while now, and it's pretty much down to push notifications for some apps. The ROM updates should be just fine, you can even get nightly builds if you wanted to! Major Android upgrades might take a little longer, but I'm more concerned about whether the 6P will last or not!

Not silly at all! Quite important actually. So Google should push security patches to AOSP (the source code for Android), and developers of these ROMs are able to update their Android sources which will include these security patches into the next build of their ROM. Perhaps there are some things that can't be updated or covered by custom ROMs, but generally speaking, as long as they're pulling the newer revisions of Android (AOSP) and merging those patches into their ROM source you'll have those security updates. There's a bit of a disconnect between Google and 3rd party developers. Google --- security ---> AOSP || ROM developers --- AOSP patches ---> ROM ---> You

Hello! I use OBS and have just arranged my sources side by side. I do this so I don't have to frame it up in video editing, and makes it cleaner for me to work with. For that, I used a capture card to get my camera, but you can use a webcam and mount it on a tripod or something.
