My uncle introduced me to SC1 on my grandma's Windows 98 computer back in 1998. I used to love watching him play SC1 and Unreal Tournament. I would draw Starcraft battles when I was bored at school, and when I finally convinced him to install it on my family's K6, I spent hours and hours playing as Terran and creating maps, even on New Year's Eve with the whole family chatting in the living room. Now I'm a developer in my 30s, working from home and watching you on my second monitor. This game has been such a huge part of my life growing up. It taught me strategy, English, and introduced me to games. It's indescribable that I'm able to watch matches with your commentary; my younger self would go absolutely crazy if only he knew... Long-time viewer, and I’ve never commented before, but your passionate casting inspired me to share this. Here’s to many more years!

I was introduced in a similar fashion. An obscure disc provided by grandpa. Ended up being one of my favorite games of all time. I even came up with a version of the game Tag on the playground in 3rd grade. Zerg Tag involved different roles framed after each variant of Zerg unit. For instance, If you were a hydralisk, you could Tag someone at range with woodchips.

I think it's partially because there's a lot of it (each race’s music suite is like 10-15 minutes I think?) and partially because it's just really ridiculously good

It's because it's more like multiple short songs one after another. Most songs go verse, chorus, verse, chorus, bridge, chorus. Lets call that A,B,A,B,C,B. In the past really popular songs would get overplayed and people would get sick of it even if they like it. In Starcraft every 15-30 seconds the song transitions into a new part, so it's more like A,B,C,D,E,F,G,H.... You are never hearing the same part so you can't get tired of it.

Here's the bunker repair math: Bunkers cost 100 minerals and have 350 Hit points. Repair costs about 1/3 of unit/building cost to fully heal. Bunkers repairs costs 33 minerals from 1 to 350. Every point of damage costs 33/350= 0.09428 minerals. Dragoons do 20 damage, thus it costs 0.09428*20 = 1.885 minerals per dragoon shot. Roughly every dragoon shot costs 2 minerals. The dragoon cooldown is 1.26. In the game 2 dragoons hit the bunker from 4:36 to 4:55, then 3 dragoons hit the bunker from 4:55 to 5:32, then 4 dragoons hit the bunker with some interruptions from the tank from 5:32 to 6:03. I counted about ~15 seconds of dragoons walking in/out of tank fire and not shooting the bunker There was more damage to the bunker AFTER the tanks were killed but I decided not to count it as it it hard to count exactly how many shots. That's about 2*(19(seconds)/1.26) + 3*(37(seconds)/1.26) + 4*((29(seconds)-15(seconds))/1.26) So that's 30.15 shots + 88.09 shots + 44.44 shots = 162.68 shots 162.68*1.885= 306.66 minerals lost from repairing. Of course the SCVs were also not working during that entire time. At 4:36 Flash pulled one SCV, at 4:39 he pulled a 2nd one, at 4:41 he pulled a 3rd one. They did not return to mine until 6:55. Counting from 4:36 to 6:03 right before the dive, the Scvs were absent from mining for 253 seconds (or 87 seconds each, minus 8 seconds) Depending on saturation, SCVs mine about 41 minerals to 59 minerals per minute, because it was relatively early game lets go with about 53 minerals/min missed. 53/60= .88333 minerals per second. .8833*253= 223.48 minerals missed A grand total of 306.66 + 223.48 = 530.14 mineral lost Arty was right it turns out its similar to 7 SCVs not mining (or 3 not mining and 4 mining for the repair cost) While a dragoon shot actually costs an insignificant amount to repair the main factor is time. Getting a siege tank in siege mode is crucial to reduce these costs.

Artosis commentary is not only more entertaining but super informative. I feel like I understand way more about the game when he casts. I watched this same match casted by another Brood War "content creator" and the difference in game knowledge really is staggering. Makes a HUGE difference in appreciation and understanding what is happening beyond just play-by-play commentary.

Much prefer Nyoken casting over anything with Tasteless in it. The dude has little technical knowledge and rambles on about the generic starcraft scene while crucial developments are occurring on screen.

Art I 100% enjoyed CNSL more than ASL last time. Part is that you’re controlling the screen while your casting. Sometimes the ASL casters really screw that up but you rarely do

GG. From this Flash game and the Scan game a few casts back, I think there's a valuable lesson: don't get caught on the wrong screen while Bisu crushes your army. 1) 8:40. Manageable tank counts. When able, flash broke up his tanks into smaller groups of 2 or 3 as he was ready to start moving into a target location, so they'll be ready to siege in groups, leading to #2. 2) 9:10 When he took a position he wanted to hold, the tanks were arrayed in a column for protoss to come into, tanks were spaced, at the Siegemode Range Floor. So that just in case, he needs to panic siege, they're spaced to support each other if #3. 3) Bsu's a damn god. The robo units were the real heroes of this game. The obs chasing the main army, he was able to perfectly time the shuttle drop to force Flash to screen switch home, right as Bisu's army moved forward into Flash's unsuspecting army. You can tell because the shuttle dropped off a reaver and zealot, and booked it out of there rather than sticking around terran's base as continual threat. But the real tell was Flash's tanks all sieged together, completely different from the box selecting he was using previously. But even getting jumped in a unprepared position, because the Tank formation was arranged ahead of time, Flash was able to fire an additional volley on the goons as they moved into the tank blind zones.

TVP in SC1 to win in the mid game always depends on timing, as terran lost first two tanks to exchange only 3 dragoons and nearly the whole base especially the numbers of factory been scouted by one dragoon, the only possible way to win is all-in.

Thank you for casting. Such a stark contrast compared to Flashes games vs amateurs. You can see how Bisu is on another level: no needless damage to his first units, great judgement on when to engage, blocks his front entrance and perfectly optimizes builds. Terran did not have a chance.

Bisu is king!!! Only man to hold over flash in the old days at least sometimes. Yes bisu lost to him in star leagues but at the grand final proleague of the last ever pro league season Bisu crushed Flash in the ace match bo1 and eliminated Samsung. That was one of the greatest victories to win a proleague finals over the best of all time. I'm sure flash is still salty about that one.
