Dr. Gregor, as an intensive care nurse, I see a lot of people suffer and die due to lifestyle choices. Whenever given the chance, I tell my coworkers, patients, family, friends, and acquaintances about plant-based phytonutrient-rich foods based on your work. I greatly appreciate your works and always point them in your direction. Thank you for helping me to help others and for being this huge beacon of light.

Why would you refuse this dubious looking mushroom I just found in the forest? It is also Mother Nature. And I'm pretty sure it contains a lot of good stuff as well. I just realized some fruits can also be toxic, so yeah replace "mushroom" with "fruit". Point is, just because it is natural doesn't mean it is healthy, so your argument is invalid.

No offense but all you need is nature. If you always train yourself to rely on someone else you will always be lost. Nature has all the intelligence you need, your body is natural intelligence manifest. If you become too scientific, you will end up frying yourself out. Listen to your body, one step at a time. Its intelligence is ancient and far more evolved then that of current man. Don't get me wrong there's nothing wrong with paying attention to someone but blindly following is a road to disaster as everyone has their own unique path. Absorb what is useful, discard what is not, Create what is uniquely works best for your own personalized reality. You are far too intelligent to live like a sheep, its time to wake up and be a human.

When you understand the intelligence of nature, all of this stuff is pointless. Takes a high level of Surrendering to reach the deepest parts of being/understanding. The most sophisticated forms of creation are actually pure simplicity. We humans complicate everything because we Over-Think and Over-Do everything. Be One and blend with nature and you will never have another question about life. This is the Infinite Intelligence AKA Enlightened State. Nature is perfect, We are perfect but we are blinded by a society and system that conditions us since birth to believe that we are not and what we buy into becomes our reality. Creation does not make mistakes.

The sugar is the same but what comes with it isn't. We should look more at the effects of whole foods vs the effects of single substances. Eating a fruit is a whole package of chemicals and it's equiped with those that help our body deal with the sugar. That's not the case with the Snickers.

My Experience of Fruit for Weight loss: After 18 months on a whole foods plant based diet I am finally shedding that stubborn weight and what I can say is I am eating a ton of fruit. I used to have low blood sugar as a teen so I thought I needed to be conservative with it...but the fact is I have a sweet tooth and I don't believe that can change..............So my treats over the last 18 months consisted of a lot of dried fruit and nuts (I kept hoping McGregor's video about nuts not causing weight would be true for me but seems it was not).....When I finally, stopped eating all the nuts and let myself have a ton of fruit....I finally satisfied my sweet tooth and the weight is dropping like crazy with out any deprivation.

I ate a mainly fruit diet the last 10 months which was a great detox and I felt really good at first. But in time I stopped focusing on other nutrients as I was eating so much fruit and other things like essential fatty acids, protein and calcium dropped too low. So now I have replaced some of the fruit with other healthy ingredients and feel better than ever. As a small female, calories are low to maintain or lose weight so you have to be careful about getting the balance of foods right so you don't become deficient. As much as I love fruit, I can't live on fruit alone for good health.

You might even slip into all kinds of different diseases like anemia. Be careful because it's hard to pull out of diseases like that. Furthermore I imagine it's hard to be satiated. And it really doesn't seem necessary. A whole food plant-based diet by dr. Greger prescribes is straight up easy for achieving and maintaining a perfect way and overall healthy existence. There's nothing wrong with fruit, nutritionally speaking. But it _is_ expensive, both in terms of personal finances, and environmentally. Overall, it's best to get most of your carbs (and calories) from cellular starch, i.e. intact whole grains and/or minimally processed tubers. Keeping all that in mind... no, there's no nutritional benefit to restricting fruit for anyone, other than someone with fructose malabsorption.
@maheshsundaram8012
@maheshsundaram8012 5 жыл бұрын
I don't see how fruit is more intensive to farm than grains or tubers. Most fruit are trees and while an individual fruit provides less calories than e.g. a potato, a fruit tree will yield hundreds of pounds of fruit, so the net result is no difference. I only see saying that it's best to get your carbs/calories from grains and tubers based on personal finances, and even then it's not exactly true for people living in the tropics. I live in the Pacific islands and buying papayas, bananas, coconuts, etc. etc. is very cheap.

Put it to the test challenge listed below. I appreciate and enjoy your work, Dr., but sometimes I really feel that the data sets presented are cheery picked to reinforce your hypothesis instead of letting the truth fetter through with the scientific method. You have great content.. keep up the good work and please watch out for the pitfalls of needing a compelling story when it isn’t wholly true. Some of these studies used are very, very flawed and a conclusion can’t be fully drawn here. Not all fruits are equal... and yes, fruit causes insulin spikes and too much fruit can cause liver, pancreas and brain problems *******challenge******* Please, put it to the test and present your personal findings. Breaking a 24 hour fast with two cups of one type of fruit only. Record the fasting glucose and the hour after eating glucose. Do this exact same process... fast then eat a different type of fruit... this way, you keep your variables at a min. Please, no exercise between the 1st glucose reading and the second. No other food Intake. My bets are, you will see a glucose spike....

have ou recently had a flu shot, amalgam fillings? are you using non stick cookware or any kiond of metal based cookware? you may be overloaded with metals (regardless of whether you had a shot), so try metal detoxing with silica rich foods like bamboo and cucumber skins, drink mineral water from volcanic sources... eat fruit and cilantro and other green herbs like parsley and mint to "dislodge" metals from organs/tissues... the silica binds to the metals, helping to carry them out of the body, limiting re-uptake of the metals... you can use silica supplements in addition to silica rich foods... bentonite clay is a good option as well... helps remove all toxins that might be causing this problem... I don't know if this will work, but it can't hurt ... my son has this problem and I am working on getting the metals out of him to see if it makes a difference if you do try this ... you will likely benefit most from silica supplementation or bentonite clay consumption about 4 times a day for a while... like more than 6 months... possibly a couple years even after symptoms go away.... this is just hypothesis at this point... just something for you to consider, or look into... or try and see what happens

This fructose story is too good to be entirely accurate. First, the relatively low glycemic index of fructose (and its apparent benefit for diabetic patients) is deceiving. In the liver, which is its primary site of metabolism, fructose is handled similar to glucose. When taken in large doses (often as sucrose or a mixture of monomeric fructose and glucose as in HFCS ) it ends up as glyceraldehyde-3-P, which is converted to pyruvate. The latter enter the mitochondrial matrix to be turned into Ac-CoA then into citrate, which exits the matrix to give rise to cytosolic Ac-CoA, the building block of fatty acids. Excess fructose => excess fat in the liver (NAFLD) => fat export => further ectopic fat deposition in other tissues including skeletal muscles (fatty muscle) => Insulin Resistance => pre-diabetes (w/ hyperinsulinemia)=> => diabetes (T2DM) => fatty pancreas => beta cell failure => low insulin secretion.

@@gallectee6032 then this implication seems inaccurate and everything he said built on that therefore does as well. It's kind of like getting isolated forms of vitamins is generally bad as opposed to Whole Foods. Or getting amino acids from plants as opposed to animals because of the excess amount of certain sulfur containing amino acids from animal flesh. Or getting heme iron versus non-heme iron. Our body recognizes and metabolizes these things totally different from different sources. I feel as though saccharides (whether they be monosaccharides, disaccharides, polysaccharides) and their means of delivery would also be metabolized uniquely between each other. My vegan diet includes at least 30 types of food: fruits, veggies, seeds, nuts, and berries. I get on avarage 200%-400% of everything. My question is: I also take ground broccoli seeds which I read somewhere maybe dangerous due to high content of uric acid. Does anyone know if this is the case?

Hi. I started the organic vegan diet 7 months ago and I started to feel amezing. Than a few months after I started to be bloated after meals , muscle and neck pains, migraines, fatigue. So I went to the doc and since they found my blood so perfect. So i was told that since I'm healthy, tha I might have chronic fatigue. Recently, one day I was curious what would happen if I ate beef, so that day I started to eat just beef and days has passed so now I feel better. Problem is that I'm tired of meats. I tried to go back to vegan but as soonest I start eating just one fruit, I get bloated, muscle pain, migraines and fatigue. Please help.

jfgt27sculpt so you went from vegan diet to eating ONLY beef?! No wonder you feel sick. Stick to a largely vegan diet and try adding a small serving of fish or chicken once or twice a week. Even in the Adventist Study, the people who ate mostly plants with occasional meat outlived the 100% vegans. 👌🏼

cravings depend on many things. most likely yours is a psychological reason. living in a regulated society with rules and norms, humans HAVE TO "let loose" at times; its just natural. some just spend money on crap, others drink alcohol, others stuff their faces with unhealthy things. So, as it is something that can't be fully kept in check find the least destructive activity. If its food cravings: try nuts - they are higly addictive; or - like dr greger - dates

+elmagnificodep If you keep eating it, it will be harder to lose the taste for it. Maybe start making healthier versions of what you enjoy; there's lots of recipies out there. Also, start switching out healthier options for what you like. Find things that you like as treats, though, because depriving yourselves usually backfires and keeps you in a vicious cycle. Keep reading about the ill effects of high fats, for example, [or whatever it is that you're craving] and that will also help you get motivated. Myself, I finally 'quit' ice cream about a year ago after finally realizing how much estrogen was in dairy. I actually do feel better since. Now, I actually don't miss it like I thought I would. You'll get there! Be well : )

Junk food is not Food, does not promote health and energy. Do not buy it, and instead keep your home environment (and your car!) safe from temptation. That goes a long way towards losing the taste for greasy, salty or sweet "edibles".

I hope there's no new information because I have watched the original. I believe KZbin has the "community" tab for channels where you can post things? Maybe using posts to showcase Flashback videos would be better? Just my thought.

From my personal experience most of the facts those studies say are different from reality and personal experience that i have experienced. I eat keto now since 7 months with no fruit no refined staff with low protein, low meat and no dairy but high fat alot of eggs and fish but more importantly i eat 500gr at least of cooked weight vegetables every day and NEVER FELT SO GOOD IN MY LIFE. I dont know why. That is why i decided tu study biology using my mind not others minds. Skin improved, stress hunger improved, muscles improved and digestion. Im happy with it. Fruit is the only type of sugar that does not give me palpitation or increased heart rate if eaten in small amounts sometimes 🤗 im 24. Buying your book dr. on blackfriday’s week. It very nice to hear a different side of the story. Saluti from Italy
