Yeah I think that was the case in the 90s when he was trying to move away from those roles but in the last few years he’s really come to embrace the movie her and do more retrospectives on it thanks for the comment

With proper promotion, Blood In/Blood Out would have been Oscar contention material. Such an amazing film.

The weeks leading up to the livestream, Paulie and the MEAD crew would refer to Blood In, Blood Out so much, it compelled me to go watch. Turned out, I have seen it or at least bits and parts from who knows where. But I gave it a proper first viewing a few days ago, and it's great. It really is. Great performances and I found every bit as compelling as Boyz in the Hood or Goodfellas or Stand By Me, pick your theme. Maybe it helped propel Benjamin Bratt's career, but it should have done similarly for Jesse Borrego as well. Borrego can emote his ass off, plus he has charisma. Maybe he didn't want a big career, but he certainly has the talent to be a big star.
