Superman 2 was considered the best comic book movie for decades. It was truly magical as a kid in the 80's. It wasn't until the 2000's with movies like Spiderman 2, the dark Knight trilogy,Ironman and the Avengers that Superman 2 was thoroughly surpassed. There still has never been a better Superman movie than part 2.
@JustinLodes Жыл бұрын
Definitely not surpassed. Just uniquely good but not better. Superman 1 and 2 are the reason you have the Spider-Man, avengers, Ironman etc movies. After 1978 Superman was released it became known how deeply this genre can affect people and how much positive influences it can have. Zack Snyder was so preoccupied with portraying Superman as a Christ-like figure that he overlooked the essence of the character. Consequently, this has led to a plethora of mixed opinions. Superman and Superman 2 set the standard for superhero movies. This showdown is so epic. Great music, villains, Superman, etc. The fact that they set up Superman 2 in the beginning of 1 as if this would be the true test for Superman with his fathers enemy was great too. It just has a sense of awe and wonder that modern films don't have. And Superman crushing Zod"s hand at the end doesn't get any better.

Man, this is going to be good because I’ve watch this movie back at the Philadelphia bass Capitol movie theater about 40 years ago when my sister took me and my cousin to see it because when superman came in to the city to battle General Zod, everyone in the audience was all out of their seats screaming and cheering and whistling during the time when General Zod was being attacked by superman because it was so fun watching that scene in the theaters about 40 years ago because you know why, why because General Zod says, come to me son of Jarell, kneel before Zod .

The FIRST big screen comic book superhero showdown!!! I was ecstatic when this first came out when I was a kid!
@enigmawstudios4130 Жыл бұрын
The simplicity, though caused by a lack of VFX, makes us appreciate the smaller details. Notice the beauty of their flight. Though primitive, you can appreciate their ability to fly. Every takeoff feels like an event. Flying through the city makes them feel small. Not as if the bricks will crumble to their touch or that a super fart will blow the world away. We've lost this in modern cinema. Being able to recreate the world doesn't mean we should. Using a mix of practical sand digital effects is a method I hope we use more in the future

@@captainjefferies9047 didn't know we were going into smart-ass territory. Not all of those shots are superimposed. I always wondered why it is even possible to reflect the heat vision - with an ordinary mirror!
@comingoutofhibernation21224 жыл бұрын
@@Bundeskaiser There is no such thing as "heat vision" in real life, but let's say it functions sort of like a laser beam, and skip past the question of how one can see the beam in clear, dry air. Then ... It shouldn't be possible. The albedo of a mirror doesn't come close to being 1. In real life, a laser beam will partially bounce off of a mirror. What will bounce back will be coherent light, much like the original laser beam, but weakened. The left over energy, however, will go into heating up the mirror and that can be a problem. Any beam energetic enough to cut through metal or blow up cars should be more than energetic enough to destroy the mirror. The reflected beam is still quite dangerous, which is why safety rules for the lab absolutely prohibit the wearing of anything shiny, should a laser be present in the lab. Would it be dangerous enough to hurt a kryptonian? No idea, because those don't exist, but certainly strong enough to hurt us. The mirror Superman is holding, though, should be shattering at the very least, and probably melting.
