Before the end of the first Flashman book I was done with him. He wasn't funny or creative in his cowardice or conniving beyond the first few chapters. It may have been a drunken delight to type up knowing the latest in a series of despicable acts but it's tiresome and mind numbing to ingest that much rape and betrayal by a central character.
