Nice video and great playing I think the most important part of a petrucci solo is the theme that he makes for a particular solo and how he brings it back in the most satisfying way..

Yngwie on solos "Though it's much harder, I'm always improvising my solos because I think the present feeling in your mind comes into the guitar and the result is much more honest." - from a very old "Spotlight" article, I believe he's talking about mainly recording in the studio. Live it makes sense to not just completely improvise every section once the listener is familiar with what you played on the record.

It depends on the context. I love Yngwie, but giving a little bit more thought about what he is doing, may made his soloing a little bit more interesting in the last couple of years. He not really evolved since the 90s. You never improvise something completely new (or barely). Improvisation is always the mirror of your subconscious playing… what you haven’t achieved on a subconscious level you probably won‘t improvise (if you know what I mean) :)

@@justin.hombachthis is very true -- *"You never improvise something completely new (or barely). Improvisation is always the mirror of your subconscious playing…"* and something I've heard even the best improvisers admit. They seem to just be better at incorporating new practice ideas and "risking" certain things. It's all a balance I guess. Always love a new guitar video from you bro!!

On those early records the solos were absolutely composed. You can tell right away every note was carefully chosen. Nowadays he just wings it

@@ak47dragunov IDK on those keyboard-guitar trade offs there's this live feeling of Yngwie going "alright cool, but watch THIS"

@@t3hgir true but take the solo from Im A Viking for example, that's definitely a thought out solo.

Great videos, man. Loved the solo. Definitely sounded like AJ, who is one of my favorites.

I am not trying to be mean as I actually like your playing a lot, but somehow that guitar sounds a little out of tune to me.
