This is nice, it sounds like carnival shooting game, it probably considered a gimmick but I love it

I remember an old TV like that when I was a kid in the hospital, but it had a wired pendant. 1970.

"That belongs in a museum!"™ But we get to see it functioning here! Outstanding work, sir. And it's amazing how many memories are sparked while watching these videos.

Very interesting, I have never seen a Flash-O-Matic in operation before. I assume each company that came out with a wireless remote system immediately patented it before they knew if it would catch on with the public. Once the public discovered the problem areas with a specific manufacturer's remote, I think the popularity dropped like a hot rock.

I don't trust anything that's not connected to a cable... oh I remember my friends mom's TV had a remote with distinctive tones at the end of a clunk

Have always wanted to see a Flash-Matic in working condition!...Congratulations on successfully completing what I’m sure was an interesting restoration!!...Can’t wait to see the videos!!!

The videos are in my Patreon. You can join for as little as $1/mo to watch them. It really helps support the channel.

Cool, I wonder if it would go crazy if people turned lights on in a room! I remember the Magnavox cheap remote that whistled, it was like the squeaker in a dog toy.
@Suddenlyits1960Ай бұрын
One of the problems was indeed that ambient light would hit the sensor panels and cause the set to have a mind of its own.

That's pretty cool, I have a big Magnavox console and my mom's garage that has the little remote with the whistle in it. I'm curious to see how well that works after a recap. I bought it used and the TV and radio still worked, but I was never able to make the remote work even though the Bellows was good

Looks like any handy flashlight would work. My Dad was in the Air Force and he had those olive drab green upright flash lights all over the place when I was little. I still have a couple of the mid 60s P38 can openers around too. One has lived on my Keychain for years. Kinda looks like Zenith had the same factory make their remote control 🤔.

With a short "this is a flashmatic, early type remote control" in the beginning to set things up, this would make for a nice KZbin short. I don't particularly like shorts, but I might be a minority these days. Might be good advertising for the channel. And the Patreon where the restore can be watched.
@bandersentvАй бұрын
That was my intent but somehow it got moved out of the short area.

@@bandersentv For "shorts" a video needs to be portrait (or possibly square) aspect ratio.

Out of curiosity, what would be the cost to secure your services for a repair job on a vintage television?
@bandersentvАй бұрын
Basic restoration runs about $500. More if I replace a picture tube, refinish cabinet, etc.
