*Fun fact:* Emperor Justinian appears in the 1968 german-italian film "The Last Roman" (which portrays the re-conquest of Rome by the Eastern Empire after the death of Theodoric), being played by the legendary Orson Wells. It's an extremely underrated film, to be honest

Film has very little to do with the actual history though. For instance Narses is portrayed as a cowardly dwarf, Theodora commits suicide and Belisarius randomly dies during the first Siege of Rome. Though I will say that Orson Welles was a pretty decent fit for Justinian, just wish it could have a little more basis in real history since it's one of the only films about Justinian's reign.

Being in Istanbul now gave me surreal feeling, with hustle and bustle of everyday life I have taken this city for granted and it just dawned on me how ancient this city is and how rich of a history it has, I have probably been to many of the places those ancient people lived. I don't know, I am just rumbling because I feel like I can't put this feeling into adequate words, the best I could say is that it is like a time travel.

The part of the map that details the distribution of peoples north of the Danube is grossly inaccurate, the Proto-Bulgars would've still resided in what is known as "Old Great Bulgaria", whereas the Avars would arrive in Europe only two decades later at the behest of the Roman emperor Tiberius who had invited them as Rome's Foederati against the Slavs and the Kutrigurs. During the 6th and 7th centuries, the most numerous and the most dangerous enemies to the ERE at the Danube were the Slavs - the Sclavenes and the Antes. Menander Protector: "(...) About the fourth year of the reign of Caesar Tiberius Constantine, some hundred thousand Slavs broke into Thrace and pillaged that and many other regions. As Greece was being laid waste by the Slavs, with trouble liable to flare up anywhere, and as Tiberius had at his disposal by no means sufficient forces, he sent a delegation to the Khagan of the Avars. Justinian really was a godtier emperor. The concept of him "bankrupting" the empire has been discredited as anachronistic in the wake of the global event and black death, yet still the holdings held showing their rigger. Erdogun doesn't want ortadox christians filming in Haggia Sophia. ..so he keeps inviting Catholics permission to film there....and you can imagine how upset local Christians are concerning there place of worship

Elephant enclosure has be added as well.. Blasphemous I know , Thankfully I don't have to worry about someone knocking down my house over it.. 🙋‍♂️

Greek uses diacritical marks, and at the beginning of ἅγιος is the hard breathing mark which is pronounced like an H in English. So the church's name should be pronounced with an H sound at the beginning, HA-GEE-AH, and the G is a hard G sound too as in game or go, not soft as in gem. I didn't study years of Ancient Greek for nothing.

“Secular” teaching does not mean “neutral” teaching and St. Justinian knew that. Too bad none of our current leaders are that wise

1 Corinthians 15:1-4 Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; 2 By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. 3 For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; 4 And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:
