Flat again

I've logged about 2000 miles on my 2024 Wired Freedom and have had a total of 4 flats - all in the rear tire. My advice is this: forget about the flatout/slime in the innertube, and pass on the tire-liners too. Here's why: Patching innertubes is really easy to do as long as you don't have foam liners making accessing the tube a pain, and I imagine the flatout/slime goo will make getting a proper seal with the patch more difficult. Flat are going to happen; it's an unfortunate reality of riding anywhere there are people and their junk/trash. But its quite easy to flip these bikes over onto their seat/handlebars and pop the tire off one side of the rim to get at the tube without removing the wheel. I can locate the puncture and patch it in about 5 minutes and it takes about another 5 minutes to pump 25 psi back into the tire with a manual handpump. 15 minutes of field repair beats a long walk home etc, and the patch-kits that use rubber cement with bonding rubber squares are effectively permanent; the scabs are junk, skip those - they don't last. The ones I use are called "Slime Classic Patch Kit" and its very portable, and there are a variety of portable pumps as well. That's all you need to never worry about being stranded again. I should add that I haven't even changed out the rear innertube. It's now got 4 patches over the course of months and it still holds air just fine. I don't plan on swapping to a new innertube until the rear need an actual new tire - which will probably not be until next year's riding season. Being able to avoid the hassle of taking off the rear wheel for tire/tube repair is an immense perk in itself. :)

They didn't stop the nail. I already had the tannus liners in there. This was the 2nd time a nail went through the tannus liners. 😢
