Hi Dave & Dawn, I remember Prefab Houses when I was a kid. These ones were made post WWII to give cheap houses. They were supposed to last for 10 years, but I remember an estate still standing and occupied until the late 70s. We certainly knew how to build them to last. They served their purpose well. I'm so glad that one has been created to show how it used to be. It's certainly a beautiful place. I never knew their history and inception went back so far. 0:14-0:24: Somehow, the building reminds me of those World War II "prefabs". (We still have some of those in my home town.) 0:37-0:59: I wonder if that's where they got the idea for the World War II prefabs from...? (Lots of bombed-out people needed to be re-housed pretty quickly!) 1:01-1:19: Larger buildings, too. (And some were even exported.) Amazing! 2:41-3:22: Serendipity! (They may have been looking for a coal mine, but they found something better!) 3:30-3:40: That's very generous! 3:50-4:32: Oh, I'd just love to watch an old-fashioned film there! 4:35-5:09: Even more good news. (No wonder you were celebrating at the end, Dawn!)

Thank you Phil this was a charming place and Woodhall Spa is a lovely little town too. The photographic collection here is a great document of the life and times. He definitely achieved his aim of documenting the era. We love the idea of browsing a catalogue and then your house arriving on a train. Bourton and Paul provided buildings like this for the goldrush. I imagine it would not meet today's energy standards. The cinema looked fantastic a place where it would be a real adventure to go and see a film. Best wishes Dave and Dawn ❤️

Hi Yasmin the camera and his photo collection was fabulous. We are so lucky nowadays to be able to take 100s of photos every trip but imagine when it was that it took ages just for one shot. He made a fabulous record of life in the spa and town. I loved the teddies too I find it hard to resist whenever I see one they seem to be asking you to take them home with you. Hi Dave and Dawn, An excellent video which makes me want to go there. I always associate those “flat pack” buildings with the “prefabs” which were constructed after the Second World War. The buildings that you show are much older and they are in excellent condition. Fina and I must go there.
