Would love to see a video about how to eliminate a dart from a pattern and how to move a dart then changing the relocated dart to pleats, gathers or tucks. Love your teaching approach!

Thank you for this! As I've gotten older (and wider in some spots), I find I need to make some grading between sizes and other alterations, so this was really helpful. I, too, would love to see a dart video.

Wow that was a fantastic tutorial TY. Would it be possible to show us how to go from a small ish waist to a large hips as in most patterns I’m 2 sizes larger and it’s very difficult to blend. I end up with large ears on both hips 😂 and that’s not a good look. I’ve tried lots of different ways but it’s difficult to get the pattern to look good so always go for floaty dresses. Thank you so much 😊. Chris xx

Thanks so much Chris, I'm glad its helpful. I know what you mean exactly, I get "ears" on occasion but my middle girl is similar to how you are. Anything fitted is a bit of extra work for her, but well worth it. Let me see what I can do for you 😁

Thank you so much Viv this is so useful. I love your informal hands on style, so much easier to follow and understand. I have the Palmer/Pletsch fit book and find it over complicated. It’s so much easier when someone shows you. I’ll definitely be using this video as a point of reference in my future makes. More please, if you have the time. x

I'm so glad to hear that Sarah. I totally understand that, I'm the sort of person that likes visual and written instructions. It just makes more sense that way.

As a Flat Pattern Maker the length adjustment for the sleeve and re-truing of the sleeve cap is not quite right. The way you drew the red line for the front section is actually removing ease from the sleeve cap which could create a fit issue. You want to go with the outside line and then reshape it starting from the top of the sleeve cap. If a length adjustment is only done to the front pattern (not the sleeve) then you have to slash and close your 3/8 to only the front section of the sleeve and not removing 3/8 all the way across to the back. :)

Very useful and informative video thank you . Would it be possible to do a shoulder adjustment as well as the dart adjustment
@StitchesSeams5 жыл бұрын
I'm glad it's useful Louise and you're so welcome. I sure can, could you elaborate on the shoulder for me? Like the shoulder is too wide, causing the shoulder seam to not fall properly on where your shoulder actually is?
@louiselill15285 жыл бұрын
@@StitchesSeams thank you yes the shoulder seam is wider than my shoulder so goes down part of my upper arm . Do I also need to alter the neck and sleeves ?
@StitchesSeams5 жыл бұрын
Ok, gotcha. I can do that for you. Just because you have narrow shoulders doesn't necessarily mean you'll need to adjust the neckline.
