I will show you the steps and basic tools to make a simple mosaic project that is easy to do, fun, and will give an otherwise sort of bland landscape that perfect pop of color.

thank you!! Definitely want to make these. You made it seem so simple. I live in Canada and concerned about how to create a base that won't heave during freezing and thawing. Really don't want the work of using rebar and cement to create the base path. Still not sure how to do it but thinking perhaps a simple layer of sand ( like you used) and then dozens of already made cement blocks and puzzle them all together. Love that you did it using the thin set mortar... love that you used equal parts sand and concrete for the grout. nice as well that I can start making these in the house while we are experiencing our - 30 - -40 weather here and then be ready for Spring. So excited to get started.

EEEks! Please be careful! I wish I could give you a pair of my gloves! WOW!! I am soo jealous. This is one of the BEST art- tile video I've ever seen! Thank you for sharing your genius!

I find the bare hands honest and natural. I prefer bare hands but sometimes wear gloves (when my hands start getting cut and smashed, I have clumsy spells). Its definitely safer to wear gloves. There are tactile benefits to bare hands, you know "getting your hands dirty"

I love this project. I’d guess it took hours to create so many beautiful tiled pavers for the border of this sidewalk. It looks gorgeous. Thank you for sharing this with the KZbin audience. Really GREAT! 👍

Very clever and skilled work. Thought the sand would scratch the mirror but none visible. Same basic technique with adhesive and white grout would adhere random, square or round mirror pieces to a 12 to 15 inch foam ball to hang in a garden or open porch, suspended by a wire and ball bearing fishing swivel. Fun projects!

that was my thought too (about the mirror scratching)

I watched this 2 times in a row last night. I like your method and I will be trying this next. I heard you say central texas and, I could be wrong, it looks like my home town, Temple Tx, northside/Historical district specifically. Thanks for this tutorial

@@Flatforkstudio hello Flatfork! I KNEW you and I were in the same general area (Austin/Temple). When I first saw this video I had never attempted a mosaic or any other type of creative art. I must say things have changed A LOT in the last year. I would LOVE to share pics with you but I can't do that on KZbin. Maybe I'll search FlatforkStudio on FB. Or perhaps you know another way?

Hi, love your tutorial! Question, in noticed you used pre-mix grout under glass tiles, why not use the same to grout it?
@Flatforkstudio3 жыл бұрын
Hi there! Sorry so late in seeing this. The thinset underneath tiles has an additive to it that is a little elastic. Harder to just buff off the tiles. The concrete powders up so nicely and will last for years!:) I hope that helps.

The answer is yes they wod. Just make sure to use a good concrete mix to stick them down appropriate for your weather conditions up there. The hardware store should have all you need. Just tell them its for outdoor tile and they will get you the right stuff! :)

Great video, thank you! Just a couple of questions. It looks like there is some sort of thin rail between the walk way rocks and pavers, to hold the loose rock in place? is it removed after install? If not, what do you suggest using, thin wood, metal, or maybe landscape plastic edging? Also, you used mirror in the mosaic, I've been told that the sun ruins the backing of mirrors, is that a myth? Thanks again for your wonderful tutorial, very well done and easy to follow.

Well. I am so sorry I missed this message. You use metal or plastic railing. ;)

Wonderful video and project! How durable are these bricks as far as making them for an actual foot path? I want to try this very much but am concerned the tiles will crack or lift out if walked on.

The area I want to do will be large, my worry is I want my work to be safe to walk bear feet. What should i do extra, do I need to smooth EACH edge?
@Flatforkstudio4 жыл бұрын
So sorry I did not see this. Actually if its a whole walkway, I would be worried it will be slippery when wet. Made that mistake for sure.:)
@Flatforkstudio4 жыл бұрын
putting the glass in the towel smoothes the edges out. is not a worry.:)
