Great clip John, and do you find the fishing shuts down when the water is clear?, ive been able to see the bottom in 10 feet of water in the passage lately and catch rates are way down, and still no big girls for me, my total since mid April is now at 152 and biggest is still a paltry tad over 60cm, and not sure if I have mentioned it before but the ecogear zx40 has been a huge fish taker but adding a stinger hook in close to rear is a must.

The passage has been crystal clear lately hey mate, really in need of some good rain. I've found a few bigger girls towards the golden beach end over the last two weeks but managed to drop both ! Spewing haha.

I just use second hand AGM batteries. Like the 90aH or bigger. And don’t run em too low and immediately recharge em when I get home. They’re not built for the application but they go alright in my experience and not as stupid exy as deep cycle. Lithium is the best by far from what I’ve heard this is the cheaper option.

I’ve just started fishing and have been catching squid but am looking to start catching some flathead just to eat and have some fun can I still use the rod I’m using for squid fishing or do I need a bigger one? Also what bait should I use ( btw not a fan of using live bait or anything like that are there some type of jigs for flathead?

Gday Ned, grab yourself some 1/4oz TT jig heads and a packet of Squidgies or Zman DieZel minnowZ around that 80mm length and get casting along the sand and mud flats ;) it’s a great way to get into a few. No need for bigger gear than what you’re running at the moment. Flathead on light lures are good like that mate. Good luck!

I only use loop knots to my lures mate. Pretty happy with that. The balance of lures is a key point for my fishing approach so limiting the nose weight plays it’s part.

Gday Scott. I use a GoPro 7 Black. They’re amazing! I use medium sharpness and the protune flat setting and then sharpen and colour grade in editing :)
