I love all your videos Zack! You have the best videos for early Ford V8 flatheads I know of on KZbin! Please keep up the good work!

Having a 8BA machined and rebuilt with all new internals. Your videos are a great source of information! From the 94 rebuilds to ignition setup and troubleshooting. Haven’t got my engine back yet, but gathering the information from your site. Great job!

Got my shit together. Using your other "no crank no start" video I determined the problem was in the old helmet style distributer. New Stromberg E-Fire distributer, plug wires and coil installed. Fired right up. Now have to wait for the snow to go and the salt to be washed off the roads. Hoping for a road test in April

Gonna use this info tomorrow. My grandfather just picked up a nice 35 sedan amd it was running good, then nothing. It has spark, but the cranking speed is very slow. And its also positive to ground i believe. Going to have to go through it all to get it back up and running for the drive in in a few weeks. Also, i grew up in waverly. I miss that place. My dad used to give us wooden nickles to get an ice cream at the drug store. Awesome content. Im learning alot.

“Okay, that sounds terrible.” lol. I thought the same thing. Mine doesn’t sound that bad, but I’m trying to figure out why my 39 isn’t turning over. Changed the resistor so far, but I have very little knowledge with cars :/

I see you have a DVOM. Learning to conduct voltage drops would save you a lot of time. You could have zeroed in on the bad ground in a very short time (a minute or less) and also verified that the solenoid and starter connection was good. I also wonder why you didn't check for spark at the plugs/coil secondary before replacing the distributor.

If you watch my actual Crank No Start video I did I go over every single step, this was just an impromptu video, I’m going to rebuild the carburetor and it should fire right back up with my backup distributor

Hi Zak. Good video to watch to learn from. When you say positive ground. Is that exactly what you mean on these old fords? Im Newbie to the game lol
@jamesbosworth41912 жыл бұрын
It means that the ground strap is connected to the positive terminal - "+" - rather than the negative terminal. Most pre 56 cars were Positive ground. GM being the big exception.

Could be several things you don't mention. Old engines with low compression are very tough to start.

Good grief. Check for spark first. Put some gas in carb and crank.
