I used Sombra to beat this on legendary. Thanks to Emongg, her translocator is really handy for reviving teammates because of the 3 seconds of stealth.

I beat legendary with randoms on sombra simply by refusing to let us all die. We had 3 instances where 3 people were down and I got everyone back up

i did this with randoms on legendary but none of us died once. we had a pretty good formula going. rein, sombra, and illari + lifeweaver. i was rein and i aggro'd the bosses basically as much as i could with the supports near me basically all the time while sombra killed every squishy robot. if sombra was low she would come to us to get healed and then get back to killing the robots. i struggled so much on legendary every other time, but with these randoms and this formula we had it was surprisingly easy. when you think about it i think this is how blizzard wanted it to be played. it would make the most sense considering how mmo-like this strategy is

Zarya was UNBELIEVABLY fun in this mode. The mini Ramattra ult on personal bubble, the launch jumps across the map and goomba'ing the enemies....it made expert kind of easy but LORD if it wasn't so fun

Seems like that's what they wanted to to do with the scrapped PvE content. I feel like something akin to this where you have general percentage upgrades and then some hero-specific unlocks would be enough. Extensive skill trees were not needed.

@@Relevart9169 I agree, it's not perfect, but the looting and getting new abilities is great. IMHO in Overwatch, these bullet sponge bosses never feel fun. I much, much prefer dealing the same amount of damage to more enemies. Deleting crowds is so satisfying, I feel like if the PvE leaned into that and the power fantasy, it would be awesome. OR better even, have bosses, but modular. Where you take out arm, leg, etc...just shooting a target and waiting for the hp to go to zero is not fun for bosses, period. There has to be a gameplay mechanic to show how they're getting low.

I’m very hopeful this was like a test for the next round of PVE or a future event. I think the loot system and ability upgrades were very clean and fun and should absolutely make a return.

Sombra is actually really good against the Orisas you face! She can hack that way the Orisas don't self heal, and EMP gets rid of the annoying shields (as regular Sombra would). The best area to group up at is the circular area (last point on Blizzard World) since if someone is playing Illari, you can put your pylon there and it heals more efficient. The drops affect everyone! Also focus Ram whenever he comes up. He is mad powerful, even with an Orisa. If Ram, Orisa, and Moria are in the same battle, you are screwed. Hope this helps someone!

Legendary was a little tough but got it in 3 tries. You can hold defenders spawn room and funnel the enemies instead of being out in the open and getting attacked from all over. Zarya is pretty good for it.

They really need to make a PVE event like this on an actual full size map instead of a small closed off section. Like how Emongg said, a COD zombies style. Where you open new areas and travel across the whole map. No other game does stuff like this and its why I love Overwatch!

Exactly. PvP needs to be balanced to not frustrate players, but PvE needs to let you run wild. The best part of facing smaller enemies is feeling how strong your character is in comparison, so I really hope they just sorta put two and two together eventually

I'm really hoping they'll put these loot items and some of the abilities (like sombra's homing arrows) into the workshop. I was skeptical when I first booted this mode but this was the most fun I've had with OW2 PvE. Looting and ability boosts make this game mode much better than others despite the lack of narrative structure like Bride had (and that was a bit too chopped up imo). It highlights what we could've had if they hadn't canceled PvE and had a dedicated team on it.

Coming back to make a separate comment about what worked for me. The team I beat this with ran Zarya, Sombra, Illari, and Lifeweaver. After we got all of the initial loot chests, we ran to high ground (where one of the Shamans usually spawn) and basically stayed there the entire time, other than when we got of the Loot Goblins. You can use LW petal to block most of the Zomnics and Zombardiers from getting to you by placing it midway on the stairs. Illari placed her pylon high on the wall or right bedside the crates and it always healed us and barely got destroyed. Every time one of us went down, we crawled to the corner on high ground and as long as petal was on the stairs, it was an easy rez. The only weird part was when Lilith spawned. She wouldn’t really appear when all of us were on high ground with the stairs blocked off. So I decided to jump to low ground and she would constantly attack me allowing my teammates to damage her. I don’t think a lot of mobs appear during her fight, I think an Orisa appeared but she immediately got melted, so this part was actually pretty easy. I believe it took my 40 minutes, but it was totally worth it as it is now one of my greatest gaming achievements. I’m really glad my other teammates were really committed and it seemed like they were having fun. Hope this helps somebody!

​@CowKirbo Hated it, he quit after their second run. You can look up the vod for his raw reaction, but he said if the last Halloween event was an 8/10 this one was a 3/10. He preferred how the other PVE events had deliberate map progression and enemy layout choices that made crafting the perfect run fun. Comparatively, this event involves walking in circles around a single area, with abilities and bullet sponge enemies spawned in via RNG. There is also less attention put into story here. Not kidding when I say that Flat's giddiness is straight up a complete 180 to Seagull's experience lol

This event was a lot of fun actually I liked it. This season balance wise might not be much different than last season but hopefully the mid season patch changes that somewhat. Also this is probably one of the best battle passes they've had so far imo. Overall decent job all things considered from the devs I think.

I found when playing Rein on Legendary that not being javelin'd/speared is very helpful, and usually pretty easy. Just count to 7 after each spear, then shield.

2 Tank 2 Support is funnily enough how I ended up beating Legendary mode (first time with any even mode for me :D) and I can solemnly say: Ball is the actual boss. The only time I won was the first time we got past Ball, and that was only bc I was able to kite him away from 2 down team members as Zarya using the Winton leap while Illari picked up Rien and Weaver after Ball double slammed them into his ult in a corner. Meanwhile when we fought Moria I shit you not, the fight only lasted so long because of an Orisa and Ram. The mode imo is the most fun on Expert, on Legendary as always Blizz took their "just give them all 500x health" instead of making them actually more complex fights. Fun event, though!

Because they're minibosses, not actual bosses. You don't need to actually kill them to progress, they're basically noob-traps, since everyone shoots the big target when the zombies are the real threat.

Honestly I think it's the most difficult of the 3 main Halloween modes. You both have less damage mitigation, shorter sightlines, and enemies not focusing on an objective. With revenge, you only have to worry about the bosses since the zomnics attack slow or don't attack at all. In ToS, you can easily funnel the bots through chokepoints, get pickups that boost your stats, and get an assortment of powerful buffed abilities as you progress.
