at 3:20, i think the reason he looked down wasnt for vortex but to try to replace the shield without realizing it was on cooldown. mostly because if you notice, he looks at the floor randomly every so often but it's primarily when hes taking a lot of damage from shots being fired at him, because you notice it again a minute later at 4:13, again 11:37, and again at 12:00, aaaand 18:50

exactly this, probably just not used to the cooldowns yet, but tbf they said its theur first season. i had the same thing with ram, so i recognised the behaviour like "omg!! i do that!"

This is absolutely what I was doing. I've since realized this and am trying to pay more attention to the cooldowns. I've actually considered playing at 16:9 again (I'm on a ultrawide) to see if that would make keeping an eye on my health and cooldowns a little easier. When Flats called out I was running in at 100hp, I can say with confidence I was unaware it was that low.

I'm a 25 year old Rammatra/Cassidy/Brig main and my dad is a 50 year old Sigma/Soldier/Moira main. Both of us have been playing since OW1 season 3. It's crazy to me how drastically sentiment shifts when people realize who they're talking to is an older gamer. I've had teammates go absolutely ape shit on me but as soon as my dad enters the voice chat, suddenly it's not that big of a deal and their rage turns to "Ah it's alright. Sigma Dad just had a bad game." He's not bad, either. I'm a plat 5 and he's a silver 4. He's a little slower on the reaction times and tends to overextend until I call him back but he's just as goofy as I am. The unwritten rule of "be kind to older gamers" is something I'm incredibly appreciative of. If people treated my dad the way they treat me, he would hate playing games.

one of the ways i use vortex is throwing it on locations like corners and such to see if someone is there or not, if it starts ticking then someone is obviously there but if not then there's a chance they ain't currently there

I feel like this is understated. Ram nemesis block + sitting on the payload to get the passive healing. The more hp, the more tank you can be. If you realllllllllly need to hold the payload on attack.
