we have the fruit/berry here in the philippines. my mom plants it and has several of them in her garden. it's called magic fruit/miracle fruit. and we eat it freshly picked and it literally does the same thing-makes everthing so sweet

That's so crazy you guys did this! I just tried this in my Experimental Foods lab, and dissolved Miraculin (same thing you have) in our mouths and ate lemons which ended up tasting like super sweet oranges. I ate strawberries too and it tasted like sweet candy! It's amazing!! It's a berry from West Africa and the pill essentially interacts with your sweet and sour receptors on your tongue. The lower the pH of a food, the sweeter it will taste :) my professor told us you can even squeeze a lime or lemon in your tea and it would taste sweet too. Also, yes it is safe for you and Miraculin has been trying to get on the artificial sweetener market since the 70's. Such a fun video guys!! Loved it! ❤️❤️❤️❤️
