Thx for the video! Fun fact: flaxseed gel has been used forever---I know it was in full swing during the Italian Renaissance, for all their very stylized curls. A semi-related rabbit hole that's also fun: check out costume historian Bernadette Banner's foray into learning how to spin flax on a vintage spinning wheel. She ended up using flaxssed gel to smoothe the linen fibers, and make them easier to spin. 😊 Cheers!

You can still get great curls and coils. Also,depending on your length,you can wet it in the shower and sleek it and tie it down for hold.
@candiceh62113 ай бұрын
@taraquinch1256 Yeah, when it's drenched while still in the shower, it's pretty flat but never sleek. Once my hair is even 25% dry, it starts rising up to the sky so it doesn't help that my edges are fully dry in about 30 minutes from just being drenched. Combing edge control through works all of 30 seconds before the frizz/coil/shrinkage feature reactivates (don't even think about re-touching it cause then all the other hairs get disturbed) and pops up like daisies in all directions before I can even tie the wrap down to set it😂 After all that, wear all night, only to have the same fuzzy edges AND a migraine from the wrap on all night. Just POOF! As if I've done absolutely nothing. My hair, when straightened, is just above bra strap. The length of my hair behaves a little better to look smooth...until it starts tangling and knotting with itself as it dries. I'm thinking about just getting locs to let them be together then since they insist on it and just dealing with the edge fuzzies by wearing headbands for the rest of my life. Either way, it's gonna be expensive AF. No one understands what I'm talking about and think I'm exaggerating until they try and see for themselves that my edges lay down for no one or thing on this earth.

@@candiceh6211 wow girl, you literally just described my entire hair experience! Sometimes I feel like no one else in the world has 4C hair because every time I see these videos, I think the exact same thing LOL my edges only stay down when my hairdresser applies multiple healthy applications of flammable Pump it Up! spray… which is basically poison… if I use any store-bought edge control my hair basically eats it up and before I leave my bathroom them baby hairs are levitating! Just wanted to let you know I feel your struggle and flaxseed gel did not work on me. It basically just moisturize my hair for a couple seconds, but I’m sure it’s very healthy for growth so I’ll use it as a mask instead.

You can boil the flax seed again to get more gel from it again

Having tried metal strainers, French press, nylons, I have finally met success with using regular good old fashioned cheese cloth from Walmart & a pair of thick rubber gloves to get the gel strained & protect the fingers from any heat. Wow.

ok let me go to walmart and find it! lol i’ve use a few different cheesecloths and they never strain well! so i’ve been using my fine metal strainer and/or a stocking lol ill try the wal mart one

I have some ground flaxseed I bought to use in smoothies that I don't use. I'm going to try making gel out of it (can't see it making much difference whether it's whole or ground. If it does, I'll find out for myself lol). I'm gonna add flaxseed oil too (I have 4c hair). See what that does.
@MajikkMonet3 ай бұрын
hey babes! Both will work!! but if it’s ground flaxseeds, maybe use a sheer stocking or mesh strainer so that way you won’t have a lot of ground flaxseed residue in your mixture. And yess I love flaxseed oil also ❤️

Don’t! I tried it. It was a nightmare getting rid of the fine bits- unless that’s your thing.

Can you use this on your skin, like a mask?
@MajikkMonet3 ай бұрын
yes it’s actually amazing for the skin!!

Does it have a scent? If so, is it extremely subtle or slightly strong and will need an oil that will over power it?
@MajikkMonet3 ай бұрын
it’s veryyyy subtle! almost like oats! ❤️ not much of a smell. I also use PUREMAJIK Naturals hair oil with it which smells amazing! I have it linked in the description box of this video!
