Is it good to go thrift store shopping on the weekend???? Well, we're going to find out! I normally go on the weekdays, however, I wanted to mix it up a bit...so, I decided to go on the weekend! Thrift store board member here! The overhead is huge. Donations aren't always sellable. Garbage disposal is 1k for 1 dumpster. We pay our employees 15$ an hour,by law. We have to get market value for some items and lose alot on clothing. We are not greedy,we are struggling! Our programs serve the poor ,hungry and undeserved. Good volunteers are rare. It's a tough economy. Don't buy if you cant,but don't expect free items,either.

@@thanksforstoppingby that’s is true, I know. The store I’m talking about the price change was so abrupt with a sharp increase. That’s what I was questioning! One week really nice prices and then bam, what changed so quickly.

Al the goods are given for free so that is not the overhead something to consider while pricing items ,the prices of electra and gas are high so that might be the increase ,everyone are trickling down their prices to the next level i think .But i agree you sell more coffee for1 dollar then for 3 and you still break even .

You inspired me to get back to thrifting yesterday. I brought some donations to Goodwill and then came home with $30 of home decor. My husband didn’t seem thrilled because we cleaned our our bedroom closet and here I was coming home with more stuff. Lol I got a wooden pumpkin, a metal pear, and cool black vase (wrought iron maybe), and a hardcover book for my mom. Prices at Goodwill were high, so not sure I’ll go back.

Oh Kelly those odd pumpkin/apples with the poof balls are $1 store! I have SEVERAL I just popped the stick off of for easy storage! Fabulous score! Ginger chick rehab does a thing with cracked wood (your gorgeous table), she takes the black CSA glue and fills the crack with it! Looks awesome!
