These puzzle hunt puzzles are growing on me. When I first saw you do one, they seemed a bit too absurd, but after watching you break them down, I find myself appreciating them more and more. Great stuff, FLEB!

I really think they are the best genre of puzzles, and will eventually be the largest if they can solve their inaccessibility problem! I might do a "Intro to Puzzlehunts" series of videos, if people are interested.

hey fleb I remember me being really young and my father trying to solve this puzzle it was a wooden construction with slots for wooden balls and an empty slot in the middle, you would move the balls one at a time, the rule was that you would move them over an other ball to an empty slot and then that other ball would be removed, somehow you are supposed to be left with only one ball, ring any bells? :/

*_Question_* Do you find it easier to solve the puzzles while explaining everything out loud or does the noise just make it distracting. I would think it could help you organize/rethink your thoughts.
@FLEBpuzzles7 жыл бұрын
I find it very difficult to talk out loud while solving a puzzle. For the puzzlehunt/mechanical puzzle videos, I practice the puzzle and then try to find the common themes, something that I hope the viewers would learn from seeing the puzzle solved. For the twisty puzzles, because they're my first time looking at them, I don't have much choice, but I usually have to cut out a few long silences!

I love your puzzle videos most of all, FLEB, because you actually explain the strategies all the way through, allowing the viewer to think through the problem with you. This is amazing because if I were to talk about similar puzzle situations with other people and watched someone else's video where they just solved it, then I wouldn't be able to explain why the solution worked. In that situation, I would only be able to give the solution itself.

Nice puzzle!! Took me 2.5 hours to crack. 30 minutes of scissor work. 30 mins to assemble the puzzle (super frustrating to do with paper pieces that don't interlock nicely). Then a 90mins to work out the morse code. I knew it was morse right away, but I got hung up for a long time trying to do it in the order of traversing the pieces as they are attached. I assumed it was starting or ending at the snowflake piece as that seemed in line with the theme. However decoding morse without delimiters for the letters is really hard. I eventually used an online tool to help me, only to find no real solution that way. Finally I went back and looked at the puzzle and noticed the symbol orientations. I wish I had copied the symbols to both sides of the paper after printing as maybe it would have made it more obvious, However I may not have been careful enough to line up the orientations and messed myself up more. All in all an evening well spent!! Thanks Fleb!

If you can with the software you have (and you can even do this with free software like audacity), take a sample of the sound in the background - the static fizzling one. Then, when you have the audio, there's a simple technique which means you can remove that sound from the entire video in a click without affecting your voice. It's a bit too much to explain here but there are plenty of easy tutorials online! Awesome videos, keep up the good work!

Were the lines on only one side of each piece? If so, could this aid the solution of the puzzle? If not, could the puzzle be assembled upside down and how would that have affected the morse code?

I've been watching your videos randomly for the past little while now and I'm just wondering- Is there a way to get some of these solid piece puzzles that you've shown us? I know there are printer friendly versions that we can cut the pieces out and solve, but for puzzles like this one I would much prefer an actual set of pieces so I could show them to my friends without having to worry about paper flying away because we have a window open. Is there somewhere that you know about that we can get these? Or are they largely printer-only unless we attend a puzzle hunt event that it's featured at?
