The piston in my 5810 broke and now I have a continuous leak. Looks like an easy fix thanks to this video, so thank you. Unfortunately it's hard to find a new piston/spacer/seal kit now because they discontinued this valve in 2021. Probably because it's a garbage product with too many field errors

Thanks Allan! My Fleck 5800 LXT stopped working. I saw a "FSER" error which means "Looking for service". Unplugged, replugged, and the unit had lost its time setting but all other settings were saved. Manual regeneration (backwash as I am using it only for removal of chlorine) would initialize but no water would exit the 3/4" PVC. When I took the unit apart the main control unit just popped back into place without me even trying to do anything. I took the opportunity to put a tiny bit of silicone lubricant on the rubber portion of the piston, the piston rod, and the o-ring. I had trouble lining up the screwholes and the protuding knob. When I tried to tighten the 2 screws that hold the head unit down I could tell it wasn't right as the stem was kind of bent and under pressure. Thanks to Allan and this video I was able to fix it by turning the gear manually until everything lined up. Also, for reference, on the 5800 the seal and spacer cage is directional it appears. The part with ramparts goes on the bottom according to the manual.

At 1:10 you say to gently lift the cable out. That's not how you remove it, the cable is barbed. You need to release it from below with a screwdriver inserted into the release slot. I found this out the hard way. Mine would not come out so I pulled it out with pliers after watching your video. The barb snapped off the end of the cable. Afterwards, I took a flashlight and saw the slot to release the cable. Good video otherwise but obviously I am a little annoyed. You should put a note in your comments explaining how to release the cable so other people don't break theirs.

My 5810 filter has a with dot on the piston, does it mean it's wrong? What color dot should it be?

How long do you need to wait after the Backwash cycle begins before you can begin disassembly?

I think almost immediately since you then unplug the unit. However, I decided not to use the head unit to depressurize since backwashing wasn't working in the first place. The procedure to depressurize would be as follows: 1. Turn off the inlet valve. 2. Open the nearest cold water tap and release the pressure. 3. Close the outlet valve of the fleck. 4. The system is now depressurized.

So currently my fleck 5810 sxt will show on its control module screen that it enters the regeneration cycle at the proper time and also if I force the regeneration manually, but what happens is it will neither begin to draw nor refill water it will just show the time counting down on the screen but the actual mechanical parts are doing nothing. There is no salt bridging as i cleaned out my tank. The system has not entered regeneration cycle in a while. What could be the issue(s)?
