Ruth Fitzwater: The Fledermaus Quadrille (all 6 parts; here they are doing parts 1,2, and 6) is (usually) a midnight tradition at the waltz balls in Vienna. They are usually held between New Years Eve and Ash Wednesday, and there're a few held during the summer as well. These balls are open to the public and it's a good idea to attend with a partner. There are quite a number to choose among. Maybe when things return to normal they'll hold the balls again as they're considered UNESCO World Heritage Events. You can watch snippets of them on KZbin. Back in 2018 I attended two balls: the Ärzteball (Medical Professional's Ball) and the Jägerball (Hunter's Ball), and I had the time of my life! You really do dance until dawn. I wanted to return this year and try three more balls but the pandemic decided otherwise. In the U.S. there are a few balls which are patterned after those in Vienna. Back in California I've attended the ball given by the San Francisco Waltzing Society on three occasions, and they also do Fledermaus Quadrille but only part 6.
