The first time I ever washed raw fleece? Put me right off the process for all time. It was a very pretty fleece, once it was all done, but let me tell you, there is nothing like finding almost 50 rehydrated sheep ticks in the wool you're hand picking! The first two I found, I thought they were alive, and screamed like a horror movie victim.

I'm actually so thankful to see all that dirt in your picker. I've wondered sometimes if I get more dirt than I should falling out when I pick (I handpick because I don't have a picker) and card. It's wonderful to know mine are pretty normal. Did you mention what breed that fleece was from? I may have missed it.

Has that initial step, where you go over the fleece by hand, been mechanized any in commercial wool production? I cannot imagine how any commercial sheep farmer or textile mill could pay to process every fleece by hand.

You don't say how hot you have the water? I watched an American video which had the water really hot, which was a surprise! Thank you so much!

Great video, but I wish you would have used a lighter color so we could have seen the carding process better. Thanks for the tutorial. Well done overall.

Would you be so kind to share farm details where you got this beautiful fleece?

What brand of skillet is that? I've never seen such a thing. Then again I've never really been in a hospital kitchen. That thing is amazing though.

I tried the hot water and i tried cold water. Made no difference in the end result to me...helps if you put the wool onto a table that has no top but has a screen instead and you hit it till no more dust falls out before washing it at all.

I know nothing about preparing fleece, but I thought that wet wool felted so easily that simply pushing the wool into the water would cause it to felt. Did it not felt because the water wasn't very hot when you put it in?
@whereismymind94298 жыл бұрын
to wet felt you need to use soap and kinda massage it into flat pieces
