1977. My last year of high school, with my girlfriend, late at night, sitting in my car on a dark country road, listening to this on an 8-track player. The quality wasn't great, at all, but the magic of having music that we controlled in our automobiles (and not the radio) was liberating. The 8-track, for some odd reason, had four segments, and it would flow continuously through each, playing the entire album and repeating again, without ever changing the dial. How many hours went by, with this playing continuously, I will never know. But it was many.

Many people do not know that Stevie Nicks and Lindsey Buckingham originally put out an album in 1973 called simply "Buckingham Nicks". It is fantastic! Mick Fleetwood heard this album and decided to ask Stevie and Lindsey to join his Fleetwood Mac band. You will really enjoy Stevie's vocals on Crying In The Night, Long Distance Winner, Races Are Run, and my favorite, Frozen Love.

@@lesliebeacom4567 no, Fleetwood would have found another guitarist, like he did when Green, Spencer and Kirwan left. Keith Olsen used the Buckingham Nicks album as his demo when Fleetwood was looking for a studio in California. He heard Lindsey and wanted him, he said they were a pair.

I love that you young guys are becoming Fleetwood Mac fans. I was about 20 and in college when the Rumours album came out. Radio stations played the songs all the time, the DJs would tell their audience to get ready for a "Fleetwood Mac attack" and you would stop what you were doing and listen to Dreams or what ever song it was. The mac attack slogan was a take off from a McDonalds commercial at the time asking customers to come in and have a Big Mac Attack. Stevie Nicks, is doing to you what she does to all young men with her mystical magical qualities and casting a spell on you, Dreams is my favorite of all of their songs, second would be "Landslide", other great songs are " Gypsy" "Sarah" "Songbird' , "Gold Dust Woman" , and when Stevie Nicks on her own , check out " Edge of Seventeen"

It's amazing how much music connects with our soul, and how we can connect with certain bands that are able to express what's going on inside us. For years I've found myself drawn to live songs put out by The Who in the early 70's (Live at Leeds, Live at Hull), Especially their live version of My Generation. There aren't many words to that song, but I find that it connects to something deep within me. Maybe the need to be heard and appreciated? It's very true what is said, that music is an outpouring of the soul, and if it's done right, you don't even need words.

Real love and a willing to admit truth is why this band is good. It sucks to admit mistakes and why admit mistakes when you can admit it is life. We all make mistakes. It is universal for us all to live and see and feel and smell and know the same things. I am not better than you because you are not better than me and the same is true in the opposite. What is "better"? Define this :)

Revenge, they all wanted to send a message, so each song was from the heart. They were all good musicians, Christie's song "You Make Loving Fun" was about one of the guys who set up the lights, her husband thought it was about him, or not, he wasn't sure, LOL, Songbird by her is great also. The greatest songs come from heartbreak.

Before they joined Fleetwood Mac, Stevie Nicks & Lindsay Buckingham made an album together. - "Buckingham & Nicks" & it's utterly brilliant ! Check it out. I have it on vinyl. It's a very rare album today. I also recommend a track from "Fleetwood Mac Live" [1980] - called "I'm so Afraid" The lyrics are heartbreaking & Lindsay's vocals really show that - but - it's an astonishing guitar solo that screams heartbreak louder than any words can . Trust me - you will be in tears. Another great reaction guys. Love your music choices.

A lot of the hype about this album is around what happened during the making of the album because of the relationships and the drugs. The album is amazing and they are super talented individually. Lindsay was a genius and Stevie was other-worldly in her performances. The songs on RUMOURS and great but the hype combined with the music is what made this one of the best selling albums ever! Two couples in a band is never a good idea emotionally...but it makes great music. Do you know another band who had two toxic relationships in the band while making great music?....Try ABBA! A lot of people forget that both couples in ABBA broke up while the band was together, just like FLEETWOOD MAC, and they made a lot of emotional music because of it. Check out their lyrics in their songs like 'Winner Takes It All' to see this. FLEETWOOD 's lyrics are similar and full of pain and love too. Heartache makes for the best songs! Thanks and keep smiling 🤘🙂
