i was tied down in a controling relationship for 24 years. before I was able to be on my own people tried to control my actions left and right. i was a bird in a cage. i have a very free rebellious dependent spirit. i now have landed in my new tiny home to a room.with some lace and paper flowers. i am now the wild free gypsy I so longed for. me and a few cats. ❤❤❤

When my elderly cat passed away we came across a short video of her looking out the window with this song playing in the background on the t.v. I'd never heard it before so I looked up the lyrics. It's now become her song. I miss her so much, she was my little girl.

I got out of a 4 year abusive relationship 2 years ago and I suffer from complex ptsd, Anxiety, depression and for a long time I was numb to emotions, I didn’t want to feel anything because when I did it was always sad until I heard this song, it makes me feel some type of way I can’t explain. I just lay on the grass in my garden and listen to this, looking at the clouds, wind in my hair, sometimes I cry, sometimes I laugh, it touches my soul and I feel at peace

Thank God you got out. Please love yourself so you can have a peaceful beautiful life. I hope you can trust again. Enjoy your freedom to the utmost because some abused women aren't so lucky to get out. I can picture you laying in the grass because I've done that and the feeling is pure peace. I agree my mom told me at 12 when I die I’m going out like a lightning storm/lightning strikes. Once she had passed the hospital night lights started flickering and then they went around in circles, round and round, round and round. The charge nurse was standing there, and she had to sit down. Her eyes grew big and asked can I please leave.? I told her no you’re the charge nurse you’re supposed to stay here until we pick my mom up. This woman turned why does a ghost. The lights slow down then my son and my brother walk in the door and all the sudden they started flickering around the room again both of my son and brother saw this asking what is wrong with your electric? I told them it’s mama at the age of 12 as I said she told me this was gonna happen. My mother passed away on this day, August 27 she was 85 years old, so I’ve known that all those years next I turn the radio on and this song comes on when you read the lyrics and think about what words I’ve said, then it all makes sense I understand why songs are made I’ve written a few myself. I just wanted to share this.

@@bobbiebodamer1094 It's true. I think the lyrics were written by S. Nicks I think the "gypsy" is all you left behind and of wishing to get back to more simple/innocent times. It can also be related to Jung (shadows and the unconcience).

💝radar hanna; I too, had to say goodbye for now, to my adorable Mama, on Valentine's Day-1990! Since that sad day, my life hasn't been the same without her; lots of ppl knew her, and to know her was to love her, cuz she was very unassuming, genuinely humble, and generously gave whatever she had to give, whether it was time, money, encouragement, whatever the need, she gave without hesitation! My Mother was my dearest friend, in all the world, and sadly, I've never known such friendships since her death, but it comforts me knowing that, although friends have come, and friends have gone, I HAVE had one true friend in my lifetime, and it was my wonderful Mother! My sweet Lord Jesus has taken her place, as my very best and truest friend, in all the world! I walk with Him, and talk with Him, and He tells me, in His comforting way, that Mom's OK, and in return, I will Praise Him, all the long day......🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻💝🕊 🕊Rest in sweet peace Mommy!🕊I love you!❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

I think she is saying that when she was in love she saw her gypsy which must have been her happiest form of herself and she’s saying how lightening struck maybe once maybe twice love comes and go’s and all comes down to you it’s always yourself who is left alone and now she is without love and now all she has is the memories where she can see her gypsy (her happiest form of herself) and now she’s a different person for the moment she is free and has to be on her own and she is a little fearful of her having to discover how she can be a gypsy (her happiest form) with out love

Interesting, I never thought of her as that before I heard this song. I think she's one of the most beautiful women I've ever seen, something so captivating about her, a modesty. I guess that describes the image of a gypsy pretty well though but they've always been harshly and cruelly viewed by the world. Truth is they have a freedom that we on the outside looking in should all envy.

On March 25, 2009 during a show in Montreal on Fleetwood Mac's Unleashed Tour, Stevie Nicks gave a short history of the inspiration behind Gypsy. She explained it was written sometime in 1978-79, when the band had become "very famous, very fast," and it was a song that brought her back to an earlier time, to an apartment in San Francisco where she had taken the mattress off her bed and put it on the floor
