He is one of the top 5..maybe even top 3 of all time. Publicity my friend...it's how you use it and cope with it. Musicians will never admit that,big competition,huge. So many great guitarists,Jimmy Page and Jimi Hendrix,Santana,Clapton,Chuck Berry,Prince... but Lindsay is by far the most talented of them all. When they "fired" him ,two guitarist replaced him Mike Campbell(Tom Petty band) and Neil Finn. They brought two to replace one...I think that says enough. Everything comes back to money,and publicity...That's why Lindsay is last on Rolling Stones 100 Greatest Guitarists,which is pathetic. Every normal and healthy brain who loves music and has above average knowledge of music knows who Lindsey Buckingham is,and everything you'll hear from them is respect for the man. So yeah,I totally agree with you Gerardo,he is THE MOST UNDERRATED GUITARIST OF ALL TIME. Fleetwood Mac ...by far,has the most beautiful and most painful story a band can have...a family torn between love,hatred,drugs and rocknroll.

At the November 7, 2007 West Palm Beach concert, Lindsey, cut his finger hitting one of the snares in Fleetwood's drums. He went on to play the rest of the show as if nothing happened. He was bleeding a lot, this was not a little paper cut. For those of us fortunate enough to be on the first rows we could see blood flying from his hand as he kept strumming the chords. I've seen a shit load of concerts in my 62 years, including several by The Mac, but The Dance, by far, reigns supreme. @@sebobie he was strumming his guitar, walked over to Mick's at the end of the song when he was fiercely hitting the high hats, cymbals, and snare drum (I believe the song was Go Your Own Way) Lyndsey began to also hit those components with his right hand. He shook his hand as if in pain and that's when I saw the blood dropping from his finger or fingers. They went back stage and came out for the usual encores. He had a bandage on his finger but played on and while doing a windmill that's when I saw the blood flying from his hand. This has to be the closest thing to Blues Rock that this lineup of Fleetwood Mac ever did. What an epic fucking song no one fingers picks the shit out of their guitar like Lindsey. To call him talented in an understatement.

When you hear this and the solo version of Big Love at one end of the spectrum and the beautiful simplistic tones of the guitar accompaniments to Landslide and Warm Ways, you begin to get an idea of how incredibly talented Buckingham was and what a huge range and depth that talent had..

Freakin Amazing! In a league all by himself with the best finger picking style, that has ever graced a set of guitar strings. Even with this out of this world solo, I don’t think we’ve seen everything that Lindsay has to offer. The most underrated guitarist ever to grace a stage. Without music like this to brighten my day, I don’t know what I would do. Thank you Lindsay.

I saw Fleetwood Mac at least 3 or 4 times back in the '70s and '80. Of course it was in arenas, I was sitting fairly far away, and I never brought binoculars to a show. I never saw Lindsay's pick technique until just now watching this video, and it is Amazing! Anyone who has ever even attempted to play Guitar knows how difficult it would be to render the sounds that he does using only his fingers! A truly underrated Guitarist!

Alex J Varunok I've always found the drummers the most interesting musicians to watch playing. I just kind of found most singing and guitar/bass playing kind of....well, I just wasn't very interested in watching them.But even I find him very interesting (I hate to be redundant, but I can't think of any other appropriate words) to watch play.
@MissDistarr609 жыл бұрын
Alex J Varunok I saw them back in the day as well. They were so very young. I love to listen to Lindsey Buckinham on an acoustic guitar. He plays it beautifully. One of the best in my opinion. I'm a big fan of Mark Knopfler's guitar playing. He has own very unique sound and style and he rarely uses a pick. He's a brilliant guitarist.

Lindsey was THE creative force behind FM from Rumours to Tango. Christine McVie was amazing as well. This song is so completely different from other FM songs and yet, it is the one that gets me on a regular basis. Isn’t Midnight is second. I cannot understand that FM filling arenas but LB is only seen in medium sized venues. He gave HIS songs to FM so that FM records/CD’s could be recorded. The guy is amazing.

It gives him more time to show his greatest talent by playing the guitar! And, I agree with you, he is an underrated musical genius!
@justinmercier31698 жыл бұрын
Yeah if you Google his name you'll find some transcripts of early interviews where he talks about teaching himself guitar by emulating his early heroes. Without a proper teacher he just finger picked and discovered a unique sound of his own. He does play with a pick from time to time when a song demands it, but it ain;t the same IMO. I have always loved LB because he can fingerpick such complex songs with originality!
@sisterearthful8 жыл бұрын
***** That's very informative! I'll Google his name and look for more of his early interviews, and teaching himself to play the guitar by emulating his early heroes. I've noticed his unique sound. At times, to me, it seemed as if there were more guitars playing. I do agree with your opinion.

Buckingham shines in this video, as brightly as a guitarist can shine. I've always wanted the song to be 3-5 bpm faster, or even more ... but there's a lot to be said for the tempo restraint here. At least once, I'd love to hear it played less slowly (not fast). It seems a bit overindulgently plodding on Fleetwood's part - although I absolutely LOVE the sound he gets from this kit - the best I've heard (among many great kits - have never seen the kick drum setup he uses here, before or since this performance). Such an iconic song - all the musicians are on point here, I always love McVie's keyboard work, and in years when Nicks didn't sing on this tune in concert - her rendition was uniquely hers and wonderful. Thanks for posting!
