It's amazing how a song written by a broken man in his bedroom in the early 90s has transcended all notions of genre and become a timeless classic.

This arrangement is just magical. The feeling of being haunted is perfectly captured in the verses and the longing in the chorus is aching thanks to the blooming harmony and slight suspensions. Simply fantastic!

The original, the Johnny Cash version, and this. So many different intonations of the same brokeness.

@@popowilli5547 I think it is not really meant as sheet music. If you're gonna do something with it, you do your own thing with it.
@popowilli55475 жыл бұрын
@@theothertonydutch It's out for purchase on JWPepper now, but I definitely agree with making the piece your own. :)

@@popowilli5547 I hate that some people take out the dissonance and try to make it sound nice. Only Cash could get away with that, but since then this song has been such a popular cover that it's become the "yesterday" of the 2000's and 2010's. I really don't like it when songs become so popular they move beyond meaning and basically become mainstream memes.
@popowilli55475 жыл бұрын
@@theothertonydutch Agreed. Music should be an emotional experience with depth and meaning. Modern music shows how far we've come from that, I believe. The music industry has just turned into mindless entertainment and it's rare to find an artist who truly cares about the music he or she makes.

A beautiful rendition. I somewhat wish the soloist had put a little less spin on some parts. Just with the amount of clusters chords and dissonance, having that much spin doesn't really work as well in some parts. Still quite beautiful though
