Just one correction, Rich: Francesco Paoli was in fact the singer and rhythm guitarist in the beginning but then they became drumless and Francesco decided to learn how to play the drums and take that position in the band. Bear in mind the "learned how to play the drums" when you react to The Violation because you'll witness the level he achieved in just 4 years. It's him playing the drums on Epilogue and the singer is Tommaso Riccardi, who replaced Francesco on the vocal and rhythm guitar duties. Recently Tommaso left the band and Francesco got back to his initial role in the band, although he still created and recorded all the drum parts on their last album.

As an american, Italian metal is soo fucking sick. Fleshgod and Hour of Penance are INSANELY brilliant. Some of my favorite songs are by those two bands. Any other Italian metal recommendations would be appreciated.

@@Boomchubbychoom Glad you like our bands, I can assure we have a lot of good ones. As a suggestion, remaining in the extreme area try Dark Lunacy, a great symphonic death metal band. The albums i suggest to check are Devoid and, mostly, The Diarist (a concept album about the 900 days of Leningrad battle during the WWII). Regards.

It used to be the bass player who did the operatic vocals but at some point they got a real opera singer. : )

This song is from their album Labyrinth, which is a concept album based on the labyrinth on Knossos. Its the Greek myth of the Minotaur in the maze on the island of Crete. Really underrated band, very talented, and they write some of the best symphonic metal out there.

Great reaction guys, one of my favorite bands. I totally understand Kel I'm also a sucker for that type of grandiose, orchestrated, wall-of-sound, epic music. I recommend The Forsaking, Cold as Perfection or The Fool. I think The Violation which is probably their most popular song to react to might be too much on the brutal side

If you want to hear more from them, listen to The Forsaking, but WATCH the video. Everyone will just throw The Violation at you because it's fast and brutal and while it's a good song, I believe Kel will love The Forsaking so much more! And it's such a freaking underrated song, everyone just goes "OMG DO THE VIOLATION THE VIOLATION" because they just wanna see the shock of the ones listening to it and it's so bloody sad.

What's interesting about Fleshgod Apocalypse is their album King, has two parts. The second part of the album is orchestral versions of their songs from the album. I think you guys would enjoy that a lot

I saw Fleshgod Apocalypse open for Wintersun back in 2013. They were very good live, and had a female opera singer on stage! :) I thought it was funny that the lead guitarist had the frowny corpse paint, and during the set he couldn't keep from smiling, as hard as he tried 😃

One of the most beautiful tracks theyve ever done, its one of three i always recommend to people the others being the forsaking and sugar. Since i found this group i honestly find it very difficult to listen to other groups, they just dont measure up to fleshgod for me even if they were a favorite of mine in the past. this group resonates my soul like no other group has. Dunno... when I hear these growlers I immediately roll my eyes and turn off. For me it's a very quick descent into self-parody - a Spinal Tap sequel, if you will. Another way to look at it is, it's like a meal with only one texture and flavour profile, with no variation or unexpected flavours. Still I'm a big fan of you guys and look forward to more reactions!
