I know an 8 year old who wants drunk elephant skincare, it’s absolutely wild. Why is this ridiculous pressure being put on young girls and the parents to buy them 🤯 When I was 8 I was playing with brats and Barbie dolls and the only “makeup” I got was probably those little fake flip phones with glitter makeup inside 😅

@@mandyzhao9790same, no make up until uni. I was told by my father repeatedly that I am amazing as I am and didn’t need the help of chemicals to make me look better. I can’t imagine the damage these products will do little girls’ delicate faces. It also makes me upset that while boys are playing knights and football, girls are obsessing over make up. What message are the girls getting nowadays? You aren’t, naturally, good enough, go and put chemicals on your face to be better? There as so many things that is upsetting about this, I don’t know where to start. Also, how can we raise a new generation of feminists if we are supporting this ridiculous message and buying in to it.

I like your sensible approach to this Fleur, mentioning that Lulu doesn’t need retinol etc. We obviously need to move with the trends and young girls do love makeup and skincare, but it’s important to make sure they are safe and aren’t using harsh ingredients 😊x

I think it's great when kids play with makeup because of the creative and fun aspect of it! And your niece seems to have a healthy relationship with makeup. But I also understand certain concerns over potential harm to skin, impact on mental health and self-esteem if kids think they *need* products like concealer, and the potential for endorsing excessive commercialism so early in life.

Yes indeed - it’s a delicate topic! I think it’s very often hard to strike the right balance with these things when parenting (obviously Lulu is not mine, but definitely something I think about a lot as river is getting older!)

Absolutely agree, kids seem so obsessed with 'stuff' and the trend is always changing. It's not great for the planet. Again also self esteem issues, they feel the need the latest stuff. Although can't lie I definitely remember being obsessed with the watching KZbin and the latest releases as a teen, so different to now as an adult

I have never felt so old (i am 32). When I was 11 I had never heard of a concealer or a mango! Times have changed. But Lulu is so sweet!!

I think this is a really smart idea for a video. Tweens will always want what they want even though we think they don’t need it and it can reassure parents what is good to buy instead of retinol based products (cry!) when I was her age I wanted everything from Benefit & urban decay & mac! Nothing changes just the brands!

Fleur, watching this I was thinking of my mid-20s skin and how it is super hard to determine if it is too early for Retinol and such, so maybe a video on skin care & ingredients with different ages starting from teens and going up to anti-aging? Especially with the run-down to Christmas it might be useful for a lot of people (I have cousins starting from 10-11 years old, with friends 20-30s going up to my mom and my grandmas, so lots of different ages).

How times and kids have changed I didn't use anything on me skin I started wearing makeup when I was about 14 I didn't moisturise before foundation it wasn't needed I started using skin products my early 20s ..my grandaughter started wanting all these things around lulu's age too ..I noticed her skin problems started when she started messing about with various products which also coincided with hormonal changes in her body..I wonder if because I didn't use anything on my face I went through my teens with barely a spot 🤔
