Astro tools is the parent company that matco gets most of their pneumatic tools from. I’ve bought multiple tools from Astro and their quality to price ratio is outstanding as this channel shows. And when it comes to the Astro flex head 1/2” impact wrench it’s one of the most versatile tools in my toolbox.
@mrb18643 жыл бұрын
I would guess between patents and tooling most of these mainly same parts with minor tweaks, the 2 port motor has a patent and taiwan manufacturers seem share designs/tooling and certainly share foundries and finishers in manufacture process . even when not patent restrictions others may use existing model if good concept and add a few tweaks as cheaper than tooling from scratch . The compact flex head is a great new game changing air tool in the shop and more so if can get 300+ out of them . saves a lot of physical fatigue in tricky spaces .

Looks like HF Earthquake 57537 right angle impact is the same as the Matco 2512, and the Astro 1834 right angle flex impact is the same as the Matco 2612. But just because 2 things are made by the same OEM doesn't mean much besides the fact that you can have them make you a tool cheaper than designing one from the ground up. You would specify things like materials used, heat treat, machining tolerances, surface finish, etc. One could have silicone orings, plastic seals, lower quality cast aluminum housing, MIM/PMM parts (not necessarily inferior), ABS plastic parts, and loser tolerances. While another one could have Viton or Buna-N orings, phenolic seals, forged or billet CNC aluminum housing, made with better quality aluminum, with a better heat treat, temper, and aging, forged components instead of MIM/PMM, nylon plastic parts, ported & polished air passages, and tighter tolerances. The latter version could cost 50-100% more, produce more power, and last longer.
