Perhaps you'd be interested in testing different media in the hollow cavaties..... like silicone caulk or RTV gasket sealant? I speculate on this because I've wanted to do the exact same experiment for 10 years 🤣 awesome vid & I always look forward to the next

I've heard a few old timers tell me candle or parafin wax can be used to help with bullets getting clogged up... Mostly by thick fur but I'd imagine the same would apply to heavy clothing.

@@terrybailey9621 I knew some older gentlemen who used the wax on their 38 special hollow points. I was told there were issues with 38's and heavy coats so a workaround was the wax.

you know you can melt down that gel block after youre done, and let the particles fall to bottom and then repour it into whatever mold you make for it. I suggest putting it into a very large pan that is inside a pan of boiling water so it melts evenly and does not burn. works pretty damn good also.

They're interesting rounds, I've had them before. There is an argument for their effectiveness in real life circumstances, tho. I'm certain it wouldn't bode well with a prosecuter and a jury having bullets named "R.I.P." even if it stands for something else. I resolved not to carry them. Trauma surgeon's nightmare. I was also a bit concerned about shattering fragments having some potential to go astray in a situation that was already bad enough. That price, too.

That’s not a terrible idea at all! Unfortunately for a lot of people, if they didn’t buy any hollow points before the pandemic, they may not have any. A couple people in my channel commented that they’re carrying Target ammo cause it’s all they have. I’ve been saying for years, when you go to the range and shoot 100 rounds, go to the store and buy 150 or 200 rounds so you always have enough. If you go to a store and have $20 in your pocket, buy one or two boxes of ammo. It’s worked well for me.

Flex Seal hardens to a plastic type material. It’s not as malleable as one would like. Silicone is a better medium to use to fill hollow points. It’s soft, durable, heat resistant, etc. I’ve tested it many times and currently use silicone filled Federal HST .40 S&W rounds in my Glock 22.

Been thinking about something like this. Picked up some Barnes TSX copper hollowpoint bullets to reload for my 35 remington lever action. Many bullets are not safe for a tube fed lever action, but have not heard from Barnes yet regarding whether these hollow points are safe for a tube fed lever gun. So I also thought about either melting plastic and pouring into the cavity or using flex seal, to create a soft tip similar to the Hornady Leverevolution rounds.

Save the flex seal for something else. The bullet cavity will fill in with the material it strikes, and thus initiate expansion. When you see cleanly cut holes in a paper target you know the bullet cavity contains the piece that was "cut" out. It has nowhere to go but in the bullet cavity. Other tests have shown bullet expansion without a "filler". BUT, that factory filler may help for accuracy. The flex tip does that first, then initiates expansion. Of course bullet speed is a factor.

I want to do this myself because of the ban on hollowpoints here, but the amount of contamination in the wound cavity disturbs me. It makes it harder for doctors and would be cruel for a burglar to die though contamination. Like the r.i.p ammo, I think it just causes unnecessary suffering. Interesting experiment, I'm curious to know if the flex seal changes the Ballistic Coefficient of the bullets, also the fact that flex seal did stick to parts of the projectiles may be that the flex seal is too tenacious and possibly some RTV which may not be as tenacious, as there are quite a few different types, may make for some interesting tests Thanks for the video, I've been a subscriber to your channel for a few years several years and enjoy most of the content. 🇺🇸

I live in Commiefornia, what would your choice be 10 rounds of 45acp, or 10 rounds of 9mm.

Is this what the Fiocchi .223 Polymer tip does too? Does the polymer tip act as a "barrier blind"?

I remember in the first Jaws movie, Roy Scheider filled hollow point .357 magnum with cyanide, then sealed it with hot wax. Does that work? Hot wax over liquid?

If you want to avoid shooting the same spot to show expansion just shoot the other side of the gel. Easier to see and it means you can compare double the amount of rounds fired.

Saw you're fmj for self defense video. Would like to see a fmj vs other soft targets. Like fruit. Watermelon or milk jugs

I have often wondered if poring wax into hollow points would stop them from plugging and still expand.
