That’s not a terrible idea at all! Unfortunately for a lot of people, if they didn’t buy any hollow points before the pandemic, they may not have any. A couple people in my channel commented that they’re carrying Target ammo cause it’s all they have. I’ve been saying for years, when you go to the range and shoot 100 rounds, go to the store and buy 150 or 200 rounds so you always have enough. If you go to a store and have $20 in your pocket, buy one or two boxes of ammo. It’s worked well for me.

Flex Seal hardens to a plastic type material. It’s not as malleable as one would like. Silicone is a better medium to use to fill hollow points. It’s soft, durable, heat resistant, etc. I’ve tested it many times and currently use silicone filled Federal HST .40 S&W rounds in my Glock 22.

Been thinking about something like this. Picked up some Barnes TSX copper hollowpoint bullets to reload for my 35 remington lever action. Many bullets are not safe for a tube fed lever action, but have not heard from Barnes yet regarding whether these hollow points are safe for a tube fed lever gun. So I also thought about either melting plastic and pouring into the cavity or using flex seal, to create a soft tip similar to the Hornady Leverevolution rounds.

Save the flex seal for something else. The bullet cavity will fill in with the material it strikes, and thus initiate expansion. When you see cleanly cut holes in a paper target you know the bullet cavity contains the piece that was "cut" out. It has nowhere to go but in the bullet cavity. Other tests have shown bullet expansion without a "filler". BUT, that factory filler may help for accuracy. The flex tip does that first, then initiates expansion. Of course bullet speed is a factor.

Interesting experiment, I'm curious to know if the flex seal changes the Ballistic Coefficient of the bullets, also the fact that flex seal did stick to parts of the projectiles may be that the flex seal is too tenacious and possibly some RTV which may not be as tenacious, as there are quite a few different types, may make for some interesting tests Thanks for the video, I've been a subscriber to your channel for a few years several years and enjoy most of the content. 🇺🇸
