I just got an electro harmonic Platform (stereo) compressor / limiter and I'm wondering if I should put this before or after the analog heat in my A&H PX5? Or should I use it more on individual channels as a send for synths for example? I've tried some combinations now and I'm just not sure yet. Love to wonder what you think about this. Thanks.

I have a Syntakt that is known to be Analog too, could you tell me if the sound quality changes if I want to enter the DAW through USB or if I do it through line output to my audio interface?
@Davemech9 ай бұрын
Yeah syntakt has 4 analog voices and the analog fx block. So basically the difference should be negligible and possibly even slightly cleaner via syntakt’s own USB out as it takes less conversions between the analog to digital domain. Your audio interface is also connected via usb ao there’s always that AD convention. But that way there will be one more ADDA convention happening. But generally you probably won’t hear any obvious difference. A big upside of using syntakt’s usb is that you can stream individual tracks to your daw through overbridge.

Hi Dave. A happy new year! One question and forgive me if i missed it in the video. Is it possible to set something that results in SC filter so i could process only , say above 120hz or Frequency X so the low things donts trigger the distortion as much? Ideally with the Analog Heat Mk1. I have a good offer and if this is possible i am going for it If its always only full band then i don`t need it

Any plans to do a new video with the Analog Heat + FX? I’m currently using this on my master insert for the live rig, but maybe ditch it for the SSL Big SiX bus compressor. I mean, its built-in. But I can’t really over cook in the same way I could with the Analog Heat. I like the idea of using this to create hard drive moments. I make electro, so getting nasty seem like an occasionally fun way to drive.

Played with the preset preparing for a gig next week and will definitely use it! One question, as the saturation is a bit too heavy for my music: When reducing the drive parameter (to 70), will I loose a lot of peak control? Output volume is remarkably lower that way but I don’t think it’ll be an issue? Thanks a lot, Dave.
@Davemech2 жыл бұрын
@@evenmind-music is your input level not hitting above 80% of the level? Otherwise dial back the saturation a bit yes. You lose a bit of the peak control then but the sound is most important. you could compensate the volume loss a little with the dirt parameter on the filter page. Enjoy your gig! And would love to know how it sounded with the preset:)

Thanks for this explanation Dave of the AH! I can make a lot more out of my AH then how I used it so far. I knew it, but this will help. I don't have a spectrum meter, but the amp meter on the AH give the same information isn't it?
@Davemech2 жыл бұрын
Nice! Yes more or less but i like to be exact :) and sometimes it's a bit harder to tell because of the peaks. 0.5db difference can already trick your brain. If you have any DAW, it will have a level meter with an option to read out LUFS. A spectrum meter is where you see the frequency range ;)

@@Davemech Yes, I thought so about the spectrum naming, but you knew what I meant. Thanks for this video, very helpful ! Now i know i definitely need AH into my setup lol :) Also i'm curious if analog FX chain inside Syntakt can fully replace Analog heat ... i'm thinking about chain Digitone>Digitakt>Syntakt where in Syntakt everything except of KICK (all other tracks except of kick + external audio in) will be routed to analog FX chain ...
@Davemech2 жыл бұрын
Happy to share :) Honestly it can't compete really. The AFX block is nice but you simply don't get as much control over your signal. No envelope follower for starters. It's great and I use it a lot for syntakt and it surely is a nice FX processor. But i wouldn't use it as as an output mixing stage. You also give up a lot of what makes syntakt so great by going that route since you can't use the AFX block in creative ways anymore. However, don't hesitate to experiment with that approach of course :). Experimentation is key and maybe you'll land on a signature sound that you love so definitely try it!
@raysubject2 жыл бұрын
@@Davemech i still didn't jumped on syntakt, still on the fence :-) Just speculating .. yeah no envelope follower but you can just trigger envelope with triggers from sequencer, so you actually don't need follower, or i am wrong ?
@Davemech2 жыл бұрын
@@raysubject it's not the same. Envelope follower follows the signal. The negative envelope on the AFX block is just a static envelope which doesn't take its curves from an input signal. You can achieve a pumping effect with the inverted envelope setting and it's certainly nice :) but i personally wouldn't put an entire signal chain through that. It's also not actually responding to a signal with a kick that way. But then again, it can be a sound :) . It's just not the same as an analog heat or even an analog heat light. It's just its own thing

I'm picking up the signal from an analog console in three stereo pairs. one stereo pair goes to the analog heat, and in order to equalize the bypass of the analog hit into one unit gain with those two stereo pairs, I had to change the sensitivity on the input channels in RME UCX, by the standard they are +4, and I set the analog heat to -10. and they are completely equal, you send a sine -18 and receive a sine -18 with a bypass analog heat. may be useful for someone

I like high value Videos Like this one. To the point without ego trips and commercials . Nice Could i do what you show in the video using the mk1 version? Have you found-tried any other similar breed devices for mastering purposes other than Analog Heat and Oto Boum ? @@Davemech A while later. Hallo again. Rewatching now and it makes me curious to see a video where you go more targeted to the filter-eq section.
